~ Review, Excerpt & Giveaway: Full Domain, Nice Guys #3 by Kindle Alexander ~

Honor, integrity, and loyalty are how Deputy US Marshal Kreed Sinacola lives his life. A former SEAL now employed by the Special Operations Group of the US Marshal Service, Kreed spent most of his life working covert operations and avoiding relationships. Never one to mix business with pleasure, his boundaries blur and his convictions are put to the test when he finally comes face-to-face with the hot computer geek he’s been partnered with. Hell-bent on closing the ongoing case for his longtime friend, he pushes past his own limits and uncovers more than he expects.

Aaron Stuart strives for one thing: justice. Young and full of idealism, his highly sought after computer skills land him a position with the National Security Agency. Aaron’s biggest hazard at his job is cramped fingers, but all that changes when he is drawn into the middle of a dangerous federal investigation. Aaron gets more than he bargained for when the FBI partners him with a handsome and tempting deputy US marshal. His attraction to the inked up, dark-haired man provides another kind of threat altogether. Aaron tries desperately to place a firewall around his heart and fight his developing feelings, knowing one misstep on his part could ultimately destroy him.

The solution isn’t as easy as solving the case, which is treacherous enough as it is. But the growing sexual attraction between them threatens to derail more than just Kreed’s personal convictions as he quickly learns temptation and matters of the heart rarely fit easily into the rules he’s lived by. Will Kreed be able to convince Aaron to open his heart and face the fact that sometimes the answers aren’t always hidden in code?

Two years ago, I fell in love irrevocably with Kindle Alexander’s books after reading The Current Between Us and it has been an ongoing affair ever since.

Each and every one of her books is so intense, full of passion, romance, suspense and as much eye candy as you desire, obviously.

Full Domain is the third and last installment in the Nice Guys series (sad news, I know) and we’re finally getting to know the elusive Aaron and Mitch’s best friend and partner, Kreed.

At a first glance, the two couldn’t be more different; Aaron is a computer whiz who spends the majority of his time behind a screen while Kreed is ex-military working for the US Marshals.

Like oil and water, Aaron stays away from violence while Kreed chases dangerous guys for a living.

What brings them together is a strong sense of justice and the desire to bring down the organization that has done so much harm to so many and that has tried to kill their best friends in the past.

The closer they get to their objective, the harder it is to ignore the fierce attraction between them. Giving in would be so simple but the stakes are too high, and even the smallest mistake could result in the death of those who are counting on them for protection.

I’d say this has been the perfect ending to a great series even if I am kind of sad that it’s over.

The writing, as usual, has been great- fast paced and intense, making this a breathtaking story I couldn’t put down.

Following the Kindle Alexander duo over the time has been an interesting journey. With every book, their progress is more and more obvious. They keep evolving and each story it truly is better than the last.

Waiting for their next book is going to be a sweet torture. Meanwhile, I’ll still have Gage, Trent, Avery, Kane, Mitch, Cody, Colt, Jace and all the others to keep me entertained.

I don’t know what else I can say except, great job, ladies!

For those who haven’t read the series yet – seriously, what are you waiting for? You don’t know what you’re missing.

Happy Reading!!

“You’re so fucking sexy with those fuck-me-I’m-so-smart glasses on and that intense look on your face.” Aaron glanced up and narrowed his eyes as he shoved the glasses off to the top of his head and stretched out his back. There was just something about the big, gorgeous deputy marshal growling those words at him that made his dick want to come out and play. A tired yawn from hours of sitting behind his laptop slipped free as he rubbed his eyes. “And those noises you make are a complete turn-on.” “I have a feeling it doesn’t take much to turn you on. A slight gust of wind would probably have you at full mast,” Aaron teased, lowering the lid to his laptop.

Best Selling Author Kindle Alexander is an innovative writer, and a genre-crosser who writes classic fantasy, romance, suspense, and erotica in both the male/male and male/female genres. It's always a surprise to see what's coming next!
I live in the suburbs of Dallas where it's true, the only thing bigger than an over active imagination, may be women's hair!
Usually, I try for funny. Humor is a major part of my life - I love to laugh, and it seems to be the thing I do in most situations - regardless of the situation, but jokes are a tricky deal... I don't want to offend anyone and jokes tend to offend. So instead I'm going to tell you about Kindle.
I tragically lost my sixteen year old daughter to a drunk driver. She had just been at home, it was early in the night and I heard the accident happen. I'll never forget that moment. The sirens were immediate and something inside me just knew. I left my house, drove straight to the accident on nothing more than instinct. I got to be there when my little girl died - weirdly, I consider that a true gift from above. She didn't have to be alone.
That time in my life was terrible. It's everything you think it would be times about a billion. I love that kid. I loved being her mother and I loved watching her grow into this incredibly beautiful person, both inside and out. She was such a gift to me. To have it all ripped away so suddenly broke me.
Her name was Kindle. Honest to goodness - it was her name and she died a few weeks before Amazon released their brand new Kindle ereader. She had no idea it was coming out and she would have finally gotten her name on something! Try finding a ruler with the name Kindle on it.. It never happened.
Through the course of that crippling event I was lucky enough to begin to write with a dear friend in the fan fiction world of Facebook. She got me through those dark days with her unwavering support and friendship. There wasn't a time she wasn't there for me. Sometimes together and sometimes by myself, we built a world where Kindle lives and stands for peace, love and harmony. It's its own kind of support group. I know without question I wouldn't be here today without her.

In The Spotlight! Review & Guest Post: Goldenfire, Darkhaven #2 by A.F.E. Smith

In Darkhaven, peace doesn’t last long.

Ayla Nightshade has ruled Darkhaven for three years since the tragedy that tore her family apart. She has left her father’s cruel legacy behind and become a leader her people can believe in – or so she hopes.

Tomas Caraway is no longer a disgraced drunk; he’s Captain of the Helm and the partner of the most powerful woman in Darkhaven. He will do everything to protect Ayla and their adopted son against all possible threats.

But a discovery has been made that could have profound consequences for the Nightshade family. There is a weapon so deadly, it can kill even the powerful creatures they turn into. And now, that weapon has fallen into the wrong hands.

An assassin is coming for Ayla, and will stop at nothing to see her dead.

Love and fantasy

When Darkhaven came out, I wrote a bit about fantasy and crime and why I think the two genres blend well together. So now, with the release of Goldenfire, it's romance's turn. What is it about love and fantasy that makes them complementary to each other?

It's probably worth saying, first, that not everyone thinks romance has a place in fantasy. I've come across several readers who would rather their fantasy focused 100 percent on people hacking each other to death with swords and 0 percent on people falling in love. Each to their own. But in my personal opinion, romantic relationships are so intrinsic to humanity that to omit them is to fail to capture the very realism those fans of blood and gore are looking for.

Obviously, this isn't to say that every character should fall in love. If the characters in a book are a microcosm of the human race then some will be interested in romance and some not. Some in sex and some not. But leaving love out of the mix entirely seems just as extreme a position to take as putting the entire focus of the novel on it.

I don't write fantasy romance; the plots of my books aren't based around two people forming a relationship. Yet despite that, my characters do tend to fall in love – often despite themselves. And this is where I think love and fantasy blend well together, and for much the same reason as murder and fantasy: they are all about heightened emotions. Fantasy throws people into life-or-death situations. Often, literally or otherwise, the characters in a fantasy novel are in a permanent state of war – whether on a worldwide scale or a personal one. And it's a well documented fact that in wartime, people fall in love more quickly. When you think your life may end tomorrow, you fling yourself into it with far less caution.

Not only that, but I always say that fantasy is the perfect vehicle for exploring both the best and the worst that we as humans are capable of. And love in all its incarnations falls into both categories. Love can lead us to act with utter selflessness. It can cause us to perform great, earth-shattering feats, albeit for the most personal of reasons. Yet, twisted and distorted, it can also become obsession and jealous rage.

If one thing is certain, it’s that people are a bundle of contradictions. We’re capable of being concerned at one and the same time with very important, weighty matters – regaining a throne, locating a magical artefact, saving the world – and our own fragile hearts. Not only that, but the balance probably shifts far more towards the personal and less towards the truly altruistic than we’d like to admit. Love is a very powerful motivator. And not just romantic love, either: our feelings for our partners, siblings, children, friends have a huge effect on what we say and do.

Perhaps the outcomes of those important, weighty matters depend more on our fragile hearts than we care to think.

Darkhaven, 3 years later

Ayla Nightshade has been through so much and fought so many battles to take her right place as a ruler of Darkhaven.

She’s revered and feared while she’s trying to keep together a kingdom that was never meant to be hers.

The enemies are willing to do anything to remove her permanently and, now, they seem to have found the perfect weapon.

No one can be trusted and, until the hired assassin is found, Ayla is confined to her castle where she’s safer than anywhere else.

But, the mysteries haven’t all been solved and there are still secrets that will resurface, bringing more danger to an already dire situation.

Help will come from an unlikely ally who no one expected to step in and offer support.

This ranks among my favorite fantasy recently published series.

AFE Smith takes the readers on a journey in a world of fantasy where nothing is really what it seems, there’s a new mystery at every corner and the plot has enough twists and turns to keep you on the edge from beginning to end.

The writing style is really good making the story fast-paced and easy to follow.

I highly recommend Darkhaven to everyone who’s looking for a good Fantasy.

Just keep in mind that you have to start with volume one or it won’t make much sense and you won’t be able to enjoy the novels as you should.

Happy Reading!!

A.F.E. Smith is an editor of academic texts by day and a fantasy writer by night. So far, she hasn’t mixed up the two. She lives with her husband and their two young children in a house that someone built to be as creaky as possible – getting to bed without waking the baby is like crossing a nightingale floor. Though she doesn’t have much spare time, she makes space for reading, mainly by not getting enough sleep (she’s powered by chocolate). Her physical bookshelves were stacked two deep long ago, so now she’s busy filling up her e-reader.

What A.F.E. stands for is a closely guarded secret, but you might get it out of her if you offer her enough snacks.

Diana's Reviews! Knotted, Manhattan Bound #3 by Juliet Braddock

Spiraling from the bustling streets of New York City to the opulence of Paris, KNOTTED, the third book in Juliet Braddock’s Manhattan Bound series, continues the steamy journey of Maxine Kirk’s whirlwind romance with star of the Broadway stage, Drew McKenzie.

As their love continues to flourish, Maxine finds herself ensconced in Drew’s world, where power reigns in his all-consuming lust for her. From a blackout in Manhattan to a back alley in Paris to a castle in the Loire Valley, their passion knows no boundaries.

All the while, though, traces from their separate pasts continue to haunt, threatening to disrupt their happiness.

Maxine must confront the harsh, emotional realities that she’d thought she’d conquered. However, she wonders if her courage will withstand the crushing heartache that has threatened to destroy her soul.

As Drew continues to fit together the missing pieces of his childhood, danger shadows his every move. Drifting through the tumultuous events of their public and personal lives, Drew will stop at nothing to keep Maxine safe—and to guard their secrets from the world.

Passion and peril collide, culminating in the explosive revelation of the enigma that’s followed Drew for years.

Another book delivered by the talented Juliet Braddock.

In Weakened and Wrapped, we got to see Drew and Maxine’s first encounter, watched them fall in love and build a relationship based on sincerity, respect, trust and love. From two complete strangers to soul-mates, they overcame many obstacles.

“In Maxine, Drew had finally found everything he needed. So lonely with such a generous heart, she have not only Drew but to everyone around her.”

Now, they are about to take the final step, that of becoming husband and wife.

“Oh, she cherished nothing more than that man standing before her. There was absolutely nothing she couldn’t accomplish or conquer with Drew at her side. She loved him – needed him – without a single condition, even throughout their most anguishing moments.”

In Knotted, things change. From New York to Paris, the author depicts scenes that give us a glimpse of the amazing architecture and the different lifestyles.

Though their pasts don’t stop interfering with their newfound happiness, their connection is stronger than ever.

“All of the anxiety he’s been shouldering for months dissipated into the vibrant Paris night. Systematically, he shoved all thoughts of any threats to the side for just a single moment. For the first time in his life, Drew felt overwhelmed by his own happiness. He’d never dared to indulge in such joy before, and this new feeling of bliss was as spectacular as it was intimidating. He’d married the love of his life.”

The thing I liked most about this series is that, although the relationship between characters grows every day, they do not change. Drew is the same dominant man who, at the same time, is a hopeless romantic and Maxine is the woman who can undo his resolve in just a matter of seconds. The same thing about the other characters -- they are one big family who help and support each other each step of the way.

The writing is flawless. I had the impression I was visiting the City of Lights right alongside them. Without a single doubt, this is one of the best series I have read so far. I cannot wait for the next book!

Juliet Braddock loves eighties music, wine, food, theater and all things French. When she’s not exploring the big cities of the world—most notably Paris—she lives and writes in Manhattan, and is the proud cat mom to a very spoiled Russian Blue rescue.
