Book Promo: Excerpt & Giveaway! The Josie Hawk Chronicles by Ellen J Rossi

A Vampire with a soul. A Huntress with a knife. In Nashville, Blood equals Power.

Will one taste of Josie Hawk cost Keller everything?

Nashville is the newest breeding ground for the darkest creatures of the occult. Huntress Josie Hawk will protect her streets—whatever it takes.

Bar owner and paranormal ass-kicker, Josie Hawk, is dealing with the stress of how to introduce her vampire lover to her vampire-hunting father. Meanwhile, the streets are buzzing with excitement over the announcement of a masquerade themed celebration with the up-and-coming stars of country music.

Josie and Keller are forced to abandon their trip into the secret world of hunters when a mysterious crew of cloaked beings emerge from the shadows and threaten to crash the biggest party of the year.

With the supernatural activity escalating to code red, Josie must find a way to stop the insidious evil hidden behind the array of masks. If she doesn’t, the masquerade party could turn into a mass funeral.

Vampire Lust and Pixie Dust.

Josie Hawk is a Huntress. A killer devoted to protecting the humans of Nashville from the shadows that lurk in the night. But the shadows are gaining ground.

When an infamous pixie tricks Josie into a drug-induced nightmare, Josie envisions the death of her vampire lover, Keller O'Leary. Was the vision a threat ... maybe even a promise? But from whom?

Desperate to track down the source of the toxic psychedelic pixie dust, Josie kicks and punches her way toward the truth. But her efforts backfire, provoking a deadly attack at Wolfie’s—the bar Josie co-owns with her sister-in-arms, Sage.

Tag. You’re it.

Haunted by the threat to Keller, Josie scrambles to outwit her elusive opponent before the deadly game escalates and claims more lives. But in saving Nashville, will Josie lose those she loves?

Or will she be too late to stop the deadly game of tag?

Arranna rises from her gilded throne. She’s wearing a short, skin-tight, green dress that accentuates her curves and her diamond-like skin. Her long legs shine as if they’ve been buffed with extra strength furniture polish. Her wings flutter softly. “Is there something I can do to help you?”

Unlike the pixies at the entrance, Arranna’s voice rings loud and clear. She carries herself in a very regal manner and her speech is no less.

I lift my chin and curtsy at the same time, a combination of strength and respect. “May we speak privately?” The room is full of pixies. Some are hanging from the rafters like bats while others are stretched out on the pillows strewn on the floor.

Arranna purses her pink lips, seemingly considering my request, then like someone who has spotted chocolate cake, she disregards me as if I’m a stale cracker. She tilts her head at Keller, studying him like a lioness stalking her prey. Interest burns in her bright green eyes. Her nostrils flair, and I swear her skin shines brighter, like she’s flipped her sexy switch up to optimum effect mode.

A stab of anger has my clenching my fists. “Allow me to introduce you to Keller.” I slide my palm down his arm and lace my fingers through his in a he’s-mine-bitch move.

Arranna wets her lips with the tip of her tongue and offers Keller her manicured hand. Keller accepts her small hand for the briefest of moments before wrapping his arm around my shoulders. Oh, how I adore this man.

Lifting one eyebrow in challenge, she says, “I’ll speak with him in my private chambers.”

Tramp. My blood simmers beneath my skin. I’m about to self-combust up in here. “Like hell,” I tell her. “Trust me, queenie. You want me on your good side.” I’m usually not the jealous type. Usually. Let me just say if I had claws, bitch would be blind right now.

She laughs. “Do I? Perhaps you’re not the biggest gun in town anymore.”

Keller squeezes my hand and steps forward. “I’m not sure if you’re aware Josie here is working for the Assembly. As am I.”

“I—”

“I suggest you figure out which team you want to play for,” Keller says, cutting her off, his voice coated in gruff authority. “Whoever your big gun is, he is nothing compared to us. It would be best if you remembered that.”

Arranna plants her hands on her hips. “I don’t care for your tone, vampire.”

“Trust me. He doesn’t care.” I move in close. Arranna stands her ground. The only reason she’s looking me in the eye instead of staring at my knees is because she’s literally put herself on a pedestal. “Where is Esmeralda?”

Book Promo: Excerpt & Giveaway! The Hazards of Sleeping with a Friend, Hazards #5 by Alyssa Rose Ivy

Warning: Sleeping with a friend might change your life forever.

Sleeping with Kyle was never in the plans. Pretending to be his girlfriend was one thing, but letting our relationship become anything but platonic was another. The problem with mixing friendship with sex is that inevitably feelings get involved, and when that happens there's no turning back.

When Kyle's life fell apart around him, I needed to help, but doing that meant opening myself up to the most terrifying thing in the world—falling in love.

I’d never seen Jade so happy and light. Her smile was real. It wasn’t the sarcastic, casual smile she used at school, but a giant, I love life smile that made my heart beat faster.

This was the real Jade. Jade with the pony tail and no makeup, with sneakers and shorts, and a little bit of mud. I wanted to believe it was more than the outdoors bringing it out in her. I wanted to believe it was me. But it probably wasn’t. I generally didn’t have that effect on people, but I could pretend. I could pretend that the night—and morning—we spent together would become something more.

“I could stay out here forever.” Jade pulled on my arm to get me to look out at the view.

“I could too, but it’s going to rain.”

She sighed. “I don’t mind getting wet.”

“Oh, I’m well aware you don’t mind that.” I wriggled an eyebrow.

She pushed me playfully. “Kyle.”

“Sorry, I couldn’t resist.”

“Yes you could. You can always resist.”

“Not always. Sometimes words slip out.”

“Are we only talking about words?”

I pulled her close. “Are you asking if I can always resist you?”

“Maybe.”

“Don’t you already know the answer to that?”

“Do I?”

“Is there a reason you’re teasing me?”

She ran her teeth over her bottom lip. “I’m not teasing. I’m being me.”

“And being you means teasing me?”

“I’m only asking a question, Kyle.” She bit her nail for a second before quickly dropping her hand to her side.

“Did you have to say my name that way?”

“What way?” she smiled.

“That way. The way that makes me want you again.”

Her face flushed. I loved knowing I had that effect on her. “I thought it was going to rain.”

“It is, but as you reminded me, you don’t mind getting wet.”

“Not if it means kissing you.”

“I have to agree with you there.” I connected my lips with hers right as the sky opened up.

Happy Release Day! Reft by Libby Austin

An object at rest stays at rest and an object in motion stays in motion with the same speed and in the same direction unless acted upon by an unbalanced force. ~ Newton’s First Law of Motion

Brandon “Brand” Carmichael’s life was the stuff dreams were made of…too bad it was an illusion. As a guitarist for Inert Motion, Brandon traveled the world, performing with his brothers in all but blood. He never stopped moving all the while his mind played in a never‑ending loop. Now outside influences have changed the band’s course, leaving Brand’s life void of the balance he craved. Once again, his dream had become a recurring nightmare. Brand coped the only way he knew how; retreat into solitude.

Û The acceleration of an object as produced by a net force is directly proportional to the magnitude of the net force, in the same direction as the net force, and inversely proportional to the mass of the object. ~ Newton’s Second Law of Motion

Magdalena “Layna” Delacroix had achieved the long sought goal of her Ph.D. in Psychology, but success came at a high cost: over one hundred thousand dollars in debt. After being presented with the opportunity to fulfill her desire to help someone in the aftermath of tragedy, along with earning enough money to clear her debt and start a psychology practice of her own, Layna had to balance the means against the outcome. Could she be the force to stop the downward spiral of someone who refused to seek help?

For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction. ~ Newton’s Third Law of Motion

Neither Brand nor Layna expected the reaction they had to one another. It was the opposite of everything they sought.

Could Layna live a lie while pushing Brand to live in the truth?

Would Brand forgive her for committing the one unforgivable sin he couldn’t overlook?

Or was he branded by destiny to be Reft…

Prologue
August
(Micah)

I faced Brand’s parents. The guilt of knowing I’d failed my best friend resting heavily upon my shoulders. There was nowhere else to turn. Brand had steadily declined over the last tour. None of the other guys in the band could figure out what was going on with him either. The more we tried to include him, the more Brandon withdrew; the more he withdrew, the more erratic he became. It seemed the only time he functioned was when we were on stage.

Rubbing my hand over my head, I confessed, “We just don’t know what else to do. We thought it was drugs or booze, but we could never catch him doing it or find it hidden anywhere. Then we thought maybe he was going through groupies”—I grimaced at the thought of talking to my friend’s parents about their son’s sex life—“even though that had never been his thing before, but he wasn’t taking anybody back to his room and he wasn’t going out. He’s not eating or working out. He’s lost weight.” I sighed and looked down, focusing on the pattern in the rug. “With the tour ending and him going home by himself, we’re worried.” Looking up, I met their concerned gazes. “And in spite of feeling like I’m narcing on my friend, I’m here because he needs help and I don’t know where else to turn or what else to do.”

Peter and Sarah exchanged a knowing glance before turning their eyes back to me. As her husband squeezed her hand, Sarah asked, “When did you start to notice Brandon’s behavior changing?”

I shook my head and said, “That’s just it, it was like BAM—all of a sudden he just wasn’t the same. Then Danelle pointed out that he started acting like an ass to her when she and Ty started to get serious, and he’s gotten worse as the rest of us have settled down with girlfriends and wives and stuff.

“It doesn’t make any sense. He always got along with Danelle when she was our publicist, so I don’t get why he would suddenly be a jerk…” I trailed off as I thought back over the past couple of years.

Sarah’s worried gaze found her husband’s once again, and he swallowed and nodded his consent. It was time.

One day some words came to mind, so I wrote them down. Soon the words became sentences, which formed paragraphs, which, in turn, formed chapters. Before long, those few words had become a book.

When I’m not reading or writing, I’m a wife, mother, and business owner. I’ve lived on both coast and few places in between, but as born and raised Southern girl, I’ll always believe there’s no place like home.

Book Promo: Excerpt & Giveaway! Irrevocable Midnight, Lunar Eclipse Series Part 3 by Kristina F. Canary

Freedom is something that is easily taken for granted, many never knowing what they have until it is stripped away. But not all hope is lost when second chances are given. As Sasha struggles to break free from her captivity to get back to the life she was seized from; she risks it all, including her precious humanity. Love has become worth fighting for, even if that means giving up everything that she is.

The ups and downs of love can be as rocky as the shores, but as the tides turn, Etienne finds that no matter how turbulent the seas, he’s not letting anything stand in the way of his new purpose in life; he must save Sasha, even if it means saving her from herself.

The saga continues as Sasha and Etienne are propelled forward through new family ties and into the line of fire of the most powerful moon of the year, the blood moon. As the cataclysm of the lunar eclipse unfolds, love finds a way to grow anew in the wake of dominant forces moving at a catastrophic speed.

“Etienne’s dominating stance calls to an unnamed part of me that I hadn’t ever wanted to acknowledge, it had been there all along, waiting for me to put the denial away. Resisting it had been difficult, but I have found a missing part of myself within the surrender. Koray had been right all along. He had read me like a book and knew exactly what I needed. I needed to re-establish not only my trust with my partner but my self-love and my inner resolve. There was beauty in the surrender. Never once did I lose said control that I was so afraid of being stripped of. Instead, it was temporarily handed to someone else to shoulder the burden so that I could let go in ways I have never been able to. Ultimately, I held the cards. Etienne would never take anything that I wasn’t willing to give. He would never violate me like that. Really, my mate is serving me in a sense by playing this role. He is the anchor, my belayer holding the rope so that I can climb higher than ever imagined to a place where I connect on a spiritual level to my inner self which brings an over-all balance that I never knew possible. Etienne’s eyes pull me back into the moment as they light up with all of the possibilities he is undoubtedly roaming over. Well, looks like we might miss first meal…” ~Sasha

A thief.
An addict.
A murderer.

Alaine.

“To me you’re coke. Fine. Smooth. Perfectly white. Very bad for me, but so fucking sexy I don’t give a shit. It’s worth going down for.” – Chuito Garcia

“I’m an addict. You know that. Getting off the drugs has never changed that. If I—”

He swallowed hard, and his voice was still full of pain. “I just can’t. I shouldn’t even touch you.”

“You drink,” she pointed out. “You’re not addicted to that.”

“Alcohol is not my drug of choice. It’s the exact opposite of it.”

“I’m not cocaine,” she reminded him.

“That’s what you think?” He glanced at her over hisshoulder, his dark gaze running over her for one long, hot moment until it stopped to rest on the pink lace of her bra.

“To me you’re coke. Fine. Smooth.

Perfectly white.

Very bad for me, but so fucking sexy I don’t give a shit. It’s worth going down for.”
