Excerpt & Giveaway! Pure Innocence, Pure #3 by Victoria Sue

They’d finally caught the madman who had been kidnapping, torturing and murdering submissives. Damon had knelt in that warehouse, clutching Oliver, the boy barely alive, and somehow in the weeks that followed Damon never seemed to be able to let him go.

Oliver is broken, in body, mind, and spirit. And for the first time since he brought him home from the hospital, Damon starts to question himself. Is he going to be enough for Oliver? If he can somehow find all the pieces of Oliver’s broken soul, will he be able to mend them? Or have the horrors that ripped through Oliver left too many holes for Damon to repair? And finally, if he tries and fails to put Oliver back together, will Damon be able to stop his own heart from shattering in the process?

Oliver hadn’t realized he was crying when Damon came back, until Damon wiped his face with his finger. He gulped a breath. “Sorry. I’m sorry.”

“What for now?”

“I can leave. They’ve taken the bandages off now. I’ll—”

Damon shook his head. “We need to go over this again, boy, don’t we?”

Oliver raised his face. “You call me that, but I’m not, am I?”

Damon tilted his head. “Do you want to be?”

Oliver mumbled and glanced down again. Damon held his chin. “Oliver, look at me please.” Oliver raised his eyes to those warm grey ones. “Do you want to be my boy?”

Oliver nodded, then shook his head. “I’m broken. I could never be anyone’s boy. And I can’t be hurt.” Oliver lifted his chin as he spoke those bald, bare words. He stripped them of every emotion. Damon had to understand. If he was going to throw him away, it was better sooner than later. “Ever. I can’t be hurt ever again.”

Damon stood up and took two strides to the window. He turned his back and Oliver shrank. It was coming, he’d finally tipped him over the edge. His heart, so fragile for so long, was going to finally break in two. Oliver looked wildly around the room. He had to get out of here.

“Apart from being too slow to catch the bastard that did this, what did I ever do wrong to you?” Damon sounded so hurt.

Oliver’s mouth dropped as his mind crowded with Damon’s words. Bewildered, he shook his head. “You didn’t do anything to me.”

Damon turned. “Then why would you just insult me by thinking for one second I would imagine you to be in any head space where you would think either I would hurt you, or that you would find it pleasurable? Or worse, that I would?” Damon’s grey eyes flashed in anger. “I have repeatedly told you why you are here, boy. I do not lie, unless it’s a cover story I have to make up for my job. I haven’t lied to you since I untied you from that cross. Either you decide, right now, you can trust me, or I will arrange for the doctors to transfer you to a private nursing home. You will receive excellent professional care and it won’t cost you a penny. You will still be visited by the same people you would have been visited by before.” Damon’s mouth twisted on the last words. “I am sorry, Oliver. I have failed you again. I don’t know any other way of making you feel safe.”

Before Oliver could even think of a reply, in four strides, Damon was out of the bedroom and had closed the door behind him.

After a brutal attack, she’s shocked to find herself in the apartment of a sexy Latino street theta determined to nurse her back to health. Gene is now the leader of the rebellion against The Director’s tyranny, recruiting new thetas and struggling with the choices he's forced to make. When Matteo and Anne need his help, he does his best to convince them to become part of his team. But when a former enemy tries to form an alliance, and a trusted friend goes behind his back, his long-term plans begin to collapse.

“C'mon, I'll show you how.”

Anne wasn't sure this was a good idea. Matteo had pulled her so close to his body she could feel every lean muscle pressed against her own. His glorious scent melted all her defenses.

“That's it. Relax.” He smiled at her.

God, that dimple.

They moved together, but she was still resisting him. “I lead, you follow,” he insisted.

She stopped, pushing him away. “I can’t dance like this. I'm used to...I'm an independent kind of dancer.” She and the rest of the troupe danced during rehearsals and shows, but that was lyrical style movements, not this sexy Latin stuff.

“No kidding.” He chuckled, his mouth open and so close to hers, she could almost taste his breath.

Anne had been in his tiny apartment for almost an entire week and most of her waking hours had been spent imagining how his kisses would taste, or what his hands would feel like on her bare skin. She'd never had these kinds of fantasies before. In her experience, male attention brought only pain.

She should leave. In fact, she should have left two days ago.

“Close your eyes, mami.” He brushed his hand in front of her face and she complied. It was easy to trust him.

She frowned. “You called me Mommy?”

He laughed again. “No chaquita, I said mami.” He spelled it out.

“What do all these words of yours mean, anyway?” He swayed to the side, taking her with him. It felt amazing.

“Chaquita means young woman or girl.”

“And mami?”

“It means baby.” His grin was impish.

“You talk to me like I'm a child?”

“No, no. It's like a guy saying, ‘Baby, you're sexy.’ You are muy sexy, mami. Very sexy.”

“Oh.” She could only whisper the word, incapable of saying more.

She’d opened her eyes again, but he spread his large hand over them very gently. “Keep them shut. Good.” He’d slid one of his hands down to her hip, so perfect as it rested there. “Now feel how our bodies fit together, how they move together.” He swirled his hips and Anne's followed. Matteo turned gracefully so her back nestled against his front. He pulled her even closer, taking a few steps forward, then back. One of his arms now circled her waist, his hand splayed across her belly, his other hand weaving long fingers with hers.

He was so gentle, so careful. Were there really males who treated females as if they were precious? In movies and books maybe, but never for her.

Review & Giveaway! Secret by Kindle Alexander

Tristan Wilder, self-made millionaire and devastatingly handsome CEO of Wilder-Nation is on the verge of a very lucrative buyout. With tough negotiations ahead, he's armed with his acquisition pitch, ready to launch the deal of a lifetime. There’s just one glitch. The last thing he expects is to fall for the hot business owner he's trying to sway.

Dylan Reeves, computer science engineer and founder of the very successful social media site, Secret, is faced with a life-altering decision. A devoted family man with three kids and a wife, Dylan has been living a secret for years. Fiercely loyal to his convictions, his boundaries blur after meeting the striking owner of the corporation interested in acquiring his company. For the first time in his life, reckless desire consumes him when the gorgeous computer mogul makes an offer he can't refuse.

Well, it was a Kindle Alexander book and you probably know how much I love what these two ladies write. This time though, it took me a little bit longer to get into the book.

Dylan and his wife have sacrificed everything for their kids. While she has managed to have a relationship on the side and be happy, he has always refused.

Tristan is your typical playboy. He’s rich, he’s highly intelligent and good looking and he doesn’t have the time nor the inclination for relationships.

Everything changes for these two men when they meet each other.

In my opinion, everything concerning their relationship sounded forced. It all happens too fast and in the span of a couple of days. I understand attraction but there were other things here that should have made it harder, if not impossible, for the characters to reach that stage so soon.

Even for a newbie like Dylan it seems a little too far-fetched.

I have nothing against insta-love but I can’t say is my kind of thing either. It is the first time when I see it happening in one of Kindle’s books and, thus, my inability to feel any kind of connection with either Dylan or Tristan.

Usually, their stories are a lot more elaborate, more … real.

I guess I’m just used to their boys being a little bit less perfect, a little bit more rough around the edges. And definitely less insecure.

I like to see them work for what they want and struggle to obtain it.

What I’m trying to say is that, this time around, I didn’t feel anything. Unlike her other books where I cried and laughed right along with the characters. There’s a scene in The Current Between Us that makes me tear up even after reading it so many times.

This novel lacked that spark, that “something” that pulls you right in and keeps your glued to the book until the last page.

Even so, I still recommend Secret. It’s an easy read, perfect if you want something sweet to take your mind off your daily issues.

It should definitely join the list of books you’re planning to take with you during your summer holiday.

Happy Reading!!

Best Selling Author Kindle Alexander is an innovative writer, and a genre-crosser who writes classic fantasy, romance, suspense, and erotica in both the male/male and male/female genres. It's always a surprise to see what's coming next!

I live in the suburbs of Dallas where it's true, the only thing bigger than an over active imagination, may be women's hair!

Usually, I try for funny. Humor is a major part of my life - I love to laugh, and it seems to be the thing I do in most situations - regardless of the situation, but jokes are a tricky deal... I don't want to offend anyone and jokes tend to offend. So instead I'm going to tell you about Kindle.

I tragically lost my sixteen year old daughter to a drunk driver. She had just been at home, it was early in the night and I heard the accident happen. I'll never forget that moment. The sirens were immediate and something inside me just knew. I left my house, drove straight to the accident on nothing more than instinct. I got to be there when my little girl died - weirdly, I consider that a true gift from above. She didn't have to be alone.

That time in my life was terrible. It's everything you think it would be times about a billion. I love that kid. I loved being her mother and I loved watching her grow into this incredibly beautiful person, both inside and out. She was such a gift to me. To have it all ripped away so suddenly broke me.

Her name was Kindle. Honest to goodness - it was her name and she died a few weeks before Amazon released their brand new Kindle ereader. She had no idea it was coming out and she would have finally gotten her name on something! Try finding a ruler with the name Kindle on it.. It never happened.

Through the course of that crippling event I was lucky enough to begin to write with a dear friend in the fan fiction world of Facebook. She got me through those dark days with her unwavering support and friendship. There wasn't a time she wasn't there for me. Sometimes together and sometimes by myself, we built a world where Kindle lives and stands for peace, love and harmony. It's its own kind of support group. I know without question I wouldn't be here today without her.

“Good morning, sleeping beauty!” A familiar voice cut across the street, and I winced. Carson sauntered over to me, holding a brown paper bag in one hand and a Styrofoam cup in the other. I blinked at him, confused. “What are you doing here?” “You mentioned where you were staying last night.” I frowned, trying to remember. “I did?” He slapped his hand to his chest as if I’d wounded him. “That’s the kind of welcome I get? A few dances and the lady doesn’t even remember me!” I giggled, but pain shot through my head, and I winced. Carson handed me the cup and the bag. “I thought you might need some hangover first-aid. You do like coffee, right?” I nodded, taking the cup. “Actually, I like tea better, but coffee’s okay.” Carson laughed. “Here I was trying to please your American sensibilities.” He shook his head ruefully. “If you want tea, we’ll find tea for you. That’s one thing we never run short of in London.” I chuckled, taking a cautious sip. It was warm, but not too hot, and I took another swallow of the coffee. “What’s in the bag?” “Hangover cure. I told you.” I peeked inside. “A croissant?” “Not just any croissant. It’s a chocolate croissant; you’ll love it.” I took a tentative bite of the flaky pastry, and then I grinned up at Carson. “Oh my God. This is so good.” He laughed. “I thought you’d like it. At least I was right about half the breakfast.” “The coffee’s good, too.” I took another sip to prove my point. “That’s good.” He draped an arm over my shoulder and pulled me close. We started to walk, and I hurried to finish the food. Taking the aspirin out of my bag, I popped a pill in my mouth and washed it down with coffee. Carson grinned at me. “Feeling better?” I nodded, surprised that my head had calmed down. “Yeah. I thought it was a migraine.” “Just a hangover. We drank a lot last night.” I flushed, remembering the feeling of his hands running all over me on the dance floor. “It was fun.” “It was more than fun.” His eyes sparkled, and his fingers began tracing lazy circles on my shoulder. I shivered in delight. “So,” I said, trying to keep the quiver out of my voice, “what did you want to do today?” His eyes danced wickedly. “Well”—he lowered his face to mine—“there are a few things I’ve had in mind,” he whispered, close enough that I could feel the vibration of his words against my skin. Hangover forgotten, I shut my eyes and parted my lips. After a moment, I felt him exhale against my mouth, and then his lips were pressed to mine. The kiss was sweet and deep, and my body felt electric. God, so this is what I’d been missing all those years? I pressed my lips to his hungrily, but then he pulled back gently and smiled.

Release Day Blitz - Excerpt & Giveaway! The Song of David by Amy Harmon

She said I was like a song. Her favorite song. A song isn’t something you can see. It’s something you feel, something you move to, something that disappears after the last note is played.

I won my first fight when I was eleven years old, and I’ve been throwing punches ever since. Fighting is the purest, truest, most elemental thing there is. Some people describe heaven as a sea of unending white. Where choirs sing and loved ones await. But for me, heaven was something else. It sounded like the bell at the beginning of a round, it tasted like adrenaline, it burned like sweat in my eyes and fire in my belly. It looked like the blur of screaming crowds and an opponent who wanted my blood.

For me, heaven was the octagon.

Until I met Millie, and heaven became something different. I became something different. I knew I loved her when I watched her stand perfectly still in the middle of a crowded room, people swarming, buzzing, slipping around her, her straight dancer’s posture unyielding, her chin high, her hands loose at her sides. No one seemed to see her at all, except for the few who squeezed past her, tossing exasperated looks at her unsmiling face. When they realized she wasn’t normal, they hurried away. Why was it that no one saw her, yet she was the first thing I saw?

If heaven was the octagon, then she was my angel at the center of it all, the girl with the power to take me down and lift me up again. The girl I wanted to fight for, the girl I wanted to claim. The girl who taught me that sometimes the biggest heroes go unsung and the most important battles are the ones we don’t think we can win.

**This is David ‘Tag’ Taggert's book, a supporting character introduced in The Law of Moses. This is a stand-alone story.

Amelie and Henry didn’t come by the gym the next day. On Saturday, I thought I saw them once, beyond the wall of windows along the front of the gym, but when I looked again they were gone. I shrugged, deciding Henry must not have been as excited by the idea as Amelie thought he would be. A few minutes later I looked up to see them hovering near the speed bags, Amelie holding firmly to Henry’s arm, Henry looking as if he was about to bolt and drag his poor sister with him. They were garnering some strange looks—Henry with his crazy bedhead, his darting glances, and jittery hands and Amelie because she stood so still and looked so out of place in a gym filled with muscles and men.

I called a quick halt to my bout, escaping Axel, who was trying to pummel me into next week, and slid between the ropes that cordoned off one of the octagons.

“Amelie! Henry!” I called, noting how Amelie’s face was immediately wreathed in a relieved smile, a smile so wide it spread to her eyes, giving the illusion of sparkle and life. But Henry started backing up, pulling his sister with him.

“Yo, Henry. Hold up, man.” I stopped several feet from them and lowered my voice. “Did you know that Jack Dempsey versus Jess Willard was the very first fight to be broadcast over the radio?”

Henry stopped moving and his hands stilled.

“Do you know what year that was, Henry?”

“1919,” Henry said in a whisper. “The first televised fight was in 1931. Benny Leonard vs. Mickey Walker.”

“I didn’t know that.” Actually, I had only known about the Dempsey, Willard fight because I’d seen a biography on Dempsey on Netflix the night before. God bless Netflix. The mention of the radio had made me think of Henry and the sportscast blaring from his bedroom. “You wanna tell me more?”

“David ‘Tag’ Taggert, light heavyweight contender with a professional record of eighteen wins, two losses, ten knock outs.”

“You checked up on me, huh?”

Henry’s mouth twitched, and he looked away shyly.

“You did! What else did you find out? That all the ladies love me, that I’m the best looking fighter, pound for pound, in the universe?”

Henry looked confused for a second, and I realized he was searching his mind for that stat. I laughed. “Just kidding, buddy.”

“Six-foot three, 215 pounds, most often compared to Forrest Griffin and Michael Bisping?” Henry’s voice rose on the end, clearly seeking approval.

“I’m more charming than Bisping, and I have better ears than Forrest. But they could both probably kick my ass.”

“He said ass, Amelie!” Henry whispered, half shocked.

“Yes he did, Henry. It’s okay. That’s how fighters talk,” Amelie soothed.

“Can I say ass?” Henry whispered again, curiously.

“You can,” I cut in, “after you learn how to fight.”

Excerpt & Giveaway! The Rules of Ever After by Killian B. Brewer

The rules of royal life have governed the kingdoms of Clarameer for thousands of years, but Prince Phillip and Prince Daniel know that these rules don't provide for the happily ever after they seek.

A fateful, sleepless night brings the two young men together and sends them on a quest out into the kingdoms. On their travels, they encounter meddlesome fairies, an ambitious stepmother, disgruntled princesses and vengeful kings as they learn about life, love, friendship and family. Most of all, the two young men must learn how to write their own rules of ever after.

“Phillip, don’t believe all those stories your scribe told you. Magic is not defeated by waiting for someone to come rescue you from it. You have to fight it.” Daniel paused and took a breath before reaching out to take Phillip’s hand again. “I sat around for two years waiting for someone to come along and fix my problems. No one came, and nothing changed. Then I realized that maybe the person I was waiting for was me. So I went out to find my own answers.”

“I’m not you. I don’t even know where to begin.” Phillip sat back on the edge of the bed.

“You begin the way everyone does,” Daniel explained, “one foot in front of the other.”

“I’ve barely been out of this castle. I don’t know what’s out there.”

“Well, you’re in luck. You know someone who does.”

“What? Who?” Phillip cocked his head and stared at Daniel in confusion.

“Me!” Daniel winked and pointed to his chest. “I know what’s out there. I’ve been wandering all over the kingdoms for months now. I’ve studied the maps and the histories. I know how to fight and how to survive.” Daniel stood up. “I’ll come with you,” he continued. “I’ll help you find her, and we’ll bring her down together. We will fix this.”

Daniel could almost see the wheels turn in Phillip’s head as he considered Daniel’s offer. He looked over at his father, then back down at his feet before glancing up to Daniel with a look of tentative hope. “Why would you do that?”

Daniel pondered the question for a moment, unsure of the answer himself. The pain in Phillip’s face touched Daniel’s heart and made him want to bring back the mischievous, laughing man he had met just two nights before. This was not his problem, and he had his own concerns to deal with, but looking at Phillip’s terrified face, he knew he wanted to help. He knew he had to.

“I’m not being completely selfless. I’m still going to be looking for my own answers. But I can help you look, too.” Daniel held his hand out to Phillip. “Come with me. Let’s go get you some food and make a plan.”

“You’re just saying this to get me to eat.”

“No. As I said, I feel responsible. If I hadn’t gotten in that bed—”

“But you did.” Phillip mumbled before turning to look at Daniel with his eyes wide. “And you passed the test. I thought for sure you were the answer—”

“The test? I still don’t understand about this test.”

“Yes. You were the first to spend the night in the bed and be kept awake by the pea under the mattresses. Okay, maybe some of the others could have passed if I hadn’t—”

“Phillip? You think a pea kept me awake?” Daniel stepped back and knitted his brows; he had clearly missed some element of that awful night’s events. Though he was glad to see some sign of activity from Phillip, Daniel was thoroughly confused. “Why was there a pea under—”

“Yes. You passed the test. Maybe it is a sign!” Phillip stood and turned to Daniel; excitement spread across his face. “Maybe you are here to help me.”
