Excerpt & Giveaway! How To Marry a Royal Highlander, The Renegade Royals #4 by Vanessa Kelly

Illegitimate yet thoroughly irresistible, the Renegade Royals are leaving behind their careers as daring spies for the greatest adventure of all…

At sixteen, Alasdair Gilbride, heir to a Scottish earldom, fled the Highlands and an arranged betrothal. Ten years later, Alasdair must travel home to face his responsibilities. It’s a task that would be much easier without the distracting presence of the most enticing woman he’s ever met…

After one escapade too many, Eden Whitney has been snubbed by the ton. The solution: rusticating in the Scottish wilderness, miles from all temptation. Except, of course, for brawny, charming Alasdair. The man is so exasperating she’d likely kill him before they reach the border—if someone else weren’t trying to do just that. Now Eden and Alasdair are plunging into a scandalous affair with his life and her reputation at stake—and their hearts already irreparably lost…

A moment later, Dailey ushered Evelyn Endicott into the room. She halted when she saw Aden, but smoothly recovered, a warm smile curving her lush mouth. Alec got a jolt, both to his brain and to his groin. The latter was an unerring barometer when it came to one person in particular.

Goddammit.

The gorgeous young woman who’d just swept into his library was no more the wife of Wolf Endicott than Alec was the King of Spain.

“Mrs. Endicott, what a pleasure to see you,” Aden said with a bow.

The faux Mrs. Endicott dimpled up prettily and returned his greeting with a brief curtsey. “And you, Captain St. George, although I see I interrupted your meeting. Please forgive me.”

She cast what she no doubt thought was a shy, apologetic glance at Alec. He raised an eyebrow and crossed his arms over his chest. Her brows, partly hidden by her spectacles, tilted down in a frown.

But a moment later she was directing another charming smile at Aden, who seemed completely taken in by her silly charade. Alec almost laughed out loud at the notion of the outrageous Eden Whitney pulling the wool over the eyes of England’s most accomplished spy.

“No apology necessary, Mrs. Endicott,” Aden said. He nodded to Alec. “I’ll speak with later.”

Alec answered his cousin with a polite smile, enjoying the prospect of mocking him at a later date. But when Aden reached the door, he glanced over his shoulder, his eyebrows raised and his gaze glinting with laughter.

Clearly, the little minx hadn’t fooled Aden, after all.

The woman who was fast becoming the bane of Alec’s existence flashed him what she probably thought was an innocent, shy smile. It was nothing of the sort, of course. Eden Whitney exuded a mostly unconscious sensuality that could knock a man flat from twenty paces.

“I’m sure you must be surprised to see me,” she said in a sweet, quiet voice.

He had to admit she got the voice right. If he hadn’t been looking straight at her, he would have thought he was listening to Evie and not her diabolical twin.

“Give it up, Miss Whitney.” He took her by the elbow and steered her to one of the club chairs. “You’re not fooling anyone.”

She gaped up at him with astonishment. “Confound it, how do you do that? I haven’t been in the room for more than a minute.”

It wasn’t the first time Edie had switched identities with her twin, but it hadn’t worked any better with him this time than it had a few months ago. There were a dozen differences between the sisters, some quite noticeable. For one, Edie carried herself with a degree of confidence and restless energy her twin lacked. She cut a swath through the ton like a sharpened sickle through a field of ripe wheat.

There were more subtle signs as well, like the way her clothes hugged her generous curves just a little more snuggly than her sister’s. She might think she was fooling him by choosing a modestly cut carriage dress in dove gray, but Edie’s sense of dash always seemed to bleed through. No cautious ponderings or sober second thoughts for Miss Eden Whitney. To her, life was a challenge and a lark, something to be enjoyed to the hilt.

“Never mind that, you daft woman,” he said. “Have you no care for your reputation?”

She let out a disdainful snort. “Reputation? That’s rich, coming from you. You’re constantly doing outrageous things.”

“I’m a man. I can get away with it. You, however, cannot.”

“It’s so unfair,” she grumbled.

In The Spotlight: Rule Breaker (Break on Through, #1) by Harper Kincaid

Just one more can’t hurt…right?

Re-belle-ious, free-spirited Lauren Renwick has decided it’s time to trade her wings for roots. That means no more bad boys, no more foolish choices. Yet when she’s stood up on New Year’s Eve, her resolution to stick to her Mama’s Rules for Dating weakens. Especially when she spots sex-in-leather-and-tattoos, Jackson Sullivan.

One look at Lauren, and Jackson is hell-bent on getting her on the back of his Harley and riding straight for his bed. Their night together is an erotic rush that has a new word popping up on his horizon—forever.

Lauren tries to convince herself he’s just one last fling to get bad boys out of her system, yet she finds herself falling hard and fast for a man with a stalker ex and a meddling Irish family. Plus, he has zero chance of passing her uptight parents’ inspection.

Jackson has Lauren’s back, but if she wants all of his heart, she’ll have to meet him halfway—by ditching rules that hold her prisoner, and learning to stand up for what she really wants.

“He was totally gorgeous and definitely intense, with the way he stared at me like a gazelle

on an open plain that was seconds away from being devoured. Nothing was distracting him

from getting from across the room right to me.”

Book Blitz: Excerpt & Giveaway!! Finding the Cure by Cassandra Giovanni

Blitz: Finding the Cure by Cassandra Giovanni
Ellie Abela’s life has been anything but easy. Tragedy follows her where ever she goes, and she’s been a lot of places. At twenty she’s lived in over ten different states, all because of her dad’s career in medical research. His career is just another list of the causes of tragedies in El’s life. He’s dying, and with every breath he takes closer to Heaven, Ellie dies a little bit inside too.

At twelve she lost her mom in a drunk driving accident, and in a matter of months she fears she’ll lose the last person she has in the world to cancer. While Ellie’s life has been rife with sadness, Trent Wentworth’s has been a challenge. A drug-addicted mom and a dead-beat dad meant at twenty three he was the adoptive father of his two year old sister. Now at twenty five he’s working his way up the corporate ladder and a struggling single parent. Each is searching for a cure to the things in their lives dragging them down. Not all cures are black and white; not all cures save us–and sometimes saving isn’t what we need. Sometimes we just need to realize how lucky we are to be alive, at least for this moment.

I slipped into class late, and Morgan narrowed her eyes at me. I signaled for her to keep quiet as I took a seat behind her. I tried to concentrate on the class, but my mind kept wandering to Trent and how he was doing at work. My phone buzzed in my pocket, and I pulled it out beneath the desk.

Missed Call - Dad 9:00AM

I swallowed, my hair forming a curtain so the professor couldn't see what I was doing. I must have missed his call while I was driving over. My blood pounded through my ears. He knew my schedule. I flicked my finger across the screen as another missed call showed.

Missed Call - Hospital 10:10 AM

The hospital called.

The phone shook in my hand.

The hospital called.

My body numbed as I stood, my books falling to the floor. Morgan's eyes met mine.

"El--?"

I shook my head as my vision blurred, my chest heaving.

The hospital.

Fuck.

I thought we were past this--past me having to keep my phone ringer on.

"El!" Morgan called at my back as I grabbed my bag off the floor. It was caught on the desk.

"God damn it!" I swore as I yanked at it.

The tears were streaming down my face as my chest hammered so hard it made it impossible to breathe.

Was I breathing?

"Ellie!" Morgan grabbed my shaking hands, lifting the desk so the bag pulled free. "What's wrong?"

Everything.

Every fucking thing.

I shook my head rapidly as I turned, rushing out the door and running to my car. I paused at it, my chest rising rapidly as my fingers shook over the screen of my cell phone.

Call. Hospital.

"Paul Abela," I whispered. "I don't know what room."

"One moment," the operator said.

I slipped into the car, putting my head against the steering wheel as my whole body trembled.

"Hey, princess," Dad's voice came over the line, and I thought I might faint.

"Daddy?" I gasped, choking on the name.

He could speak.

He's speaking.

"Can you skip class today? I need you to come to the hospital and speak with the doctor and I," he said and his voice was flat, devoid of emotion.

I knew he was holding something back. Something he wanted to tell me this morning.

"Yes," I choked.

"El--don't drive like an asshole. Nothing is going to change no matter how fast you drive," he said.

I grit my teeth. "Yes."

Book Promo: Excerpt & Giveaway!! For Adriano (Chicago Syndicate, #3) by Soraya Naomi

Adriano Montesi’s life has always revolved around women, his family, and the Chicago Syndicate. As a Capo and Luca DeMiliano’s right hand man, he’s one of the four highest ranking men in the organization, and he’s fought many to maintain his position.

Adriano’s current assignment is locating Camilla Guillermo, the one woman who’s captured his attention beyond a simple fuck. He and Cam have a history together that no one knows about, and now that she’s disappeared, he’s eager to find her and discover her sordid past. What might seem like a routine mission has become an obsession for Adriano.
Italian beauty, Camilla Guillermo, is lost and alone in the world. Running away from a past that haunts her and the man that deceived her. But wherever she goes, Adriano is always with her, always in her thoughts.
Out of money and out of options, Cam has no place to turn but back to the Loop, back to the one place she wants to avoid.

When Adriano finds Camilla, everything between them will change. No matter how much they are drawn to each other, Cam is now off limits by boss’s orders. And in the Chicago Syndicate, you don’t defy the boss’s orders unless you’re prepared to live with the consequences.

A romantic suspense.

A dark romance.

As I climb the stairs to the strip club of the Syndicate’s three-story headquarters, located alongside the North Shore of Chicago’s suburbs, I already recognize voices coming from the room at the end of the hall.

I’m greeted by Luca and James, who are in the middle of the room beside the rounded burgundy sofa. I nod to both of them and fix my focus on the unknown woman with an attractive bob standing next to James. I’m usually not a fan of women with short hair, but who is this delectable creature?

James takes his cue to introduce us. “Adriano, meet Camilla. She’ll be working here at the club from now on.”

Why did he suddenly hire someone new? We’re not understaffed.

I can’t help but stare at her. My god, her legs go on forever; she’s almost as tall as I am, and I’m over six feet. I inspect her body slowly, like no one is watching, and when I reach her face, I’m pleasantly stunned that she’s challenging me with an arc of her perfectly shaped eyebrow. Her eyes are deep brown, heavily lashed, and slightly tilted up at the corners. Her cheeks are delicately boned. She looks absolutely appetizing in a tight, black knee-length dress. Sexy, yet not too revealing. In other words, she’s smokin’ hot!

“Camilla, nice to meet you.” I go old-school, take her hand in mine, and kiss her knuckles.

Luca hides an eye-roll, but I catch it and grin.

“Adriano,” she says huskily.

Her voice is hoarse. Hoarse in the sexiest way I’ve ever encountered. I didn’t expect that sensual voice to accompany this striking woman who smells like vanilla. With her, my obsession with vanilla ignited.

“Welcome to our little establishment.” Then I address James while holding on to her hand, “What will she be doing here?”

“Bartending,” James answers.

“Then I better show her the ropes.” I let the pad of my thumb swirl over her fingers, and she shivers noticeably; she’s not immune to my charms.

And I guide this interesting woman to the bar, which is a stainless steel and black granite area that’s open at each end and set up like a juice bar.

She speaks before we step behind it. “I can make drinks.”

Her simple statement has me confused.

“You look like you don’t believe I can tend the bar,” she elaborates.

Oh no, sweetheart, I’m not doubting your qualifications. I’m just staggered by the sex vibes you’re throwing around with that voice and those gorgeous lean legs.

I smirk while extending my hand, inviting her behind the bar. “No, I believe you.”

That was the first night I tried to get Cam into my bed. I failed that night and for over three months after and almost gave up my chase, but it was too much fun to try to capture her. I don’t even think she liked me at first.

I was born in South America in 1984 and raised in Europe where I presently reside with my fiancé.

I read many genres but favor intense, dark, seductive, and provocative novels where the male character loves fiercely, without remorse or boundaries. I also adore forbidden love tales and have an odd fascination with kidnapping romances. No, I don't secretly want to be kidnapped, though!

I have a passionate obsession with the written word and indulge in chocolate pastries much too often.

My debut novel For Fallon (Chicago Syndicate, #1) was released on July 26, 2014. I’m honored that For Fallon won “Best Breakout Novel 2014” in the Novel Grounds Semi Annual Literary Awards.

Book Promo: Excerpt & Giveaway! More Than Water by Renee Ericson

It doesn’t feel right. It doesn’t feel wrong. It just...feels.

EJ Cunning, an art history major, dates musicians. Foster Blake, a chemical engineering major, can’t sing a tune. They’re not each other’s type. They’re coworkers. Then, one night leads to sex—sex between friends—which leads to an agreement. It all seems so simple—but nothing ever is. Many layers build a person’s facade. Look into the depths for what’s hidden within. It’s more than water. It’s a story—a living and breathing substance beyond the reflective surface.

“Great.” He swivels around in the chair, peering up at me.

Total geek chic is the first thing that comes to mind as I evaluate his plain khakis and comic book character T-shirt, the hipster-vintage kind. Honey-brown hair tops his handsomely stubbled face framed in a pair of Buddy Holly–type glasses. Behind the lenses, his dark blue eyes give me a once-over, up and down.

“Welcome to Howard Library,” he continues. “I’m Foster. Things here should be pretty straightforward since you have worked over at the main library. It’s the same system but in a smaller space. If you have any questions, feel free to ask.”

“Your name is Foster?” I question, unbelieving. “As in, the beer?”

“Yes.”

“You don’t sound Australian.”

“I must have left my accent back at my apartment.” He turns back toward the monitor and clicks the mouse. “Along with my crocodile, koala, and kangaroo.”

“Well, that makes all the sense in the world.”

“Yes, deriving facts from absurd logic—that must be your artistic side.” He gives me a sidelong glance. “It’s a family name.”

“Can I call you Fozzie?”

“Can I call you Evelyn?”

“Not if you want me to answer.”

“It’s safe to say, the same goes for calling me Fozzie. I’m not a Muppet.”I laugh at that response, having not thought of The Muppets in years.

Mikky's Reviews! Darkhaven by A.F.E. Smith

Ayla Nightshade never wanted to rule Darkhaven. But her half-brother Myrren – true heir to the throne – hasn’t inherited their family gift, forcing her to take his place.

When this gift leads to Ayla being accused of killing her father, Myrren is the only one to believe her innocent. Does something more sinister than the power to shapeshift lie at the heart of the Nightshade family line?

Now on the run, Ayla must fight to clear her name if she is ever to wear the crown she never wanted and be allowed to return to the home she has always loved.

Ayla is a member of the Nightshade family and a changer.

Her family rules over Darkhaven, but not all of them can Change and only the ones with the ability will inherit the throne.

She and her brother, Myrren, are seen as disappointments by their father. One for her abilities and the other for the lack of them.

But something happens and, soon, Ayla will find herself on the run and being forced to trust a man who might truly be a murderer, just to stay alive.

I was caught up in this novel from the beginning. There are a lot of mythical creatures in it, so it was a big bonus. It was like reading a Greek legend but with a whole set of new and interesting elements.

Ayla’s journey to finding out who killed her father is full of action, mysteries, twists and turns that will keep you on the edge of your seat.

The Nightshade family seems to have a few dark secrets the king has taken to his grave and she will discover a lot more than she was expecting.

I really hope this will be a series because, in my opinion, there were still questions left unanswered.

For being a debut novel, it was really well written. A captivating, fast paced story with fascinating characters that I’m sure you’ll like just as much as I did.

Great job, Anna! I highly recommend it!

Happy Reading!
