Excerpt & Giveaway! The Perfect Bargain, How to Marry a Highlander #1 by Julia London

American lass seeks brawny Scot...

As if being newly single isn’t brutal enough, Sloane Chatfield's friends are getting obnoxious about setting her up. When Sloane insists she's waiting for a certain sexy fictional Highlander to come along, her friends surprise her with a trip to Scotland to find her a new boyfriend. She’d rather have a root canal. But if she can find a Highland hunk to “break her heart” before her friends arrive…

In a remote Highland village, Galen Buchanan is struggling to keep the family pub afloat. Everything is falling apart, he’s running out of money, and now there's an opinionated American lass parked at his best table, driving him mad. But then Sloane asks Galen to be her pretend Highland boyfriend...and offers him enough money to save the pub. It’s only for a few days, he figures. What's the worst that could happen?

By the time they reached a smooth stretch of road, Sloane had been bounced and jolted every which way, but Galen seemed to think nothing of the jarring ride. He kept his gaze straight ahead. She rubbed her hands on her knees. “How long will it take to get there?”

“An hour.”

“I say we use the time to review some basic information.” She reached for her messenger bag and pulled out two folded papers. “I prepared a page for you, too.”

“A page of what?”

“Information about me.” He looked completely confused.

“You know,” Sloane said. “So you’ll know at least a little about the girlfriend you’d never have.”

“Ah, for the love of Christ,” Galen sighed heavenward. “It’s part of the deal,” she reminded him.

“All right, then,” he said with a nod. “I should know why you donna have a boyfriend, or a husband, or a mate. Are you gay?”

She laughed. “If I were gay, would I need a boyfriend?”

He shrugged. “Maybe you belong to a weird religious order. Are you a nun?”

“What? What is that supposed to mean?” she asked.

“One of my teachers was a nun. Sister Mulhaney. She wore a knot in her hair and sweaters in the summer,” he said, tapping his neck. “Like you.”

“I don’t dress like a nun,” she said defensively.

“No? Seems to me a lass wanting to snare a lad will unbutton her collar.”

“I’m not trying to snare a lad,” Sloane said coolly, and unthinkingly touched the knot of hair at the base of her skull. “And do you have any idea how incredibly sexist that is? Some women button their shirts and some don’t, and it has nothing to do with their sexuality. I don’t think I needed to be all dolled up to work. I mean, you sure don’t get dolled up to work.”

“Aye, but that’s different,” he said cheerily. “I’m a man. And I’m no’ trying to woo a pretend girlfriend. I’ll say it again, then—a woman who wants a man best unbutton her collar and doll up a wee bit. We’re visual creatures.”

“Please. I don’t want a man. Not every woman is looking for one, you know. Some of us have lives.”

“Ah,” he said, nodding. “I get it.”

“Get what?”

“You must be nursing a broken heart.”

Book Blitz! The Fate Series by Emersyn Vallis

When I chose to leave home I knew what I was giving up. I knew I was walking away from life as I knew it and the plans that we had made. We…us…him and I…

It’s funny to think of him in a different light…or life.

That’s what it feels like, a lifetime ago.

But I’m a different person now. I have rules and goals. And if it wasn’t for my parents' vow renewal I would have successfully evaded him for the rest of my life. This is not by choice, I can tell you that.

I just need to focus and remember the key to this weekend is avoidance…and alcohol. But if anyone can pull that off it’s me,

Sidney Chandler, queen of avoiding anything that will make me feel.

It’s just one weekend, right?

One very long weekend with my family…friends…my sisters and me…together, and our nemeses, the McAllister triplets.

What could possibly go wrong?

Everything.

They say you never forget your first love, now just imagine how hard it is to forget your only.

This is going to suck.
~~
We all have choices in life… paths to take… roads to follow…. It’s on those journeys that fate finds us and takes us where we need to be… Without a second glance we can be taken away from things we know… "people we love" and given a new life...

One that can change us… save us…

What would you do if fate dropped you at a crossroads? Would you go back? Or would you run like hell the other way?

~~
For years my life was in a state of Adjournment…

Fate had constructed a plan to push me away… to save me…

There was a danger I never knew existed, one I had never sensed.

My family positioned themselves around me.

Like Hanging Pawns, they shielded me from it and I lived blissfully unaware… until now.

Now, I know there are rules to this game...

Sacrifices to be made in order to get to End Game.

What would I Sacrifice for one more moment... one last look? Touch? Kiss?

The answer is simple…

Everything.
~~
Once upon time, there were two girls living their lives completely unaware of one another and the dangerous game they had been placed in…

Until Fate found them…

Fate saved them, made them stronger & with time, Fate brought them together to become friends rather than enemies…

Until a cruel Queen made her move, threatened the Knight,

And an innocent Pawn was sacrificed…

Now the game is in our hands…

Fate might have set us up for this… but we control the moves now…

And we have our own plan.

Revenge.
Adjournment
Hanging Pawns
Sacrifice
End Game

Emersyn Vallis is a first time author with Adjournment being the first book in the Fated Series. Currently residing on the east coast with her husband and three children she is typically mistaken for being quiet and reserved her friends often describe her as a spastic spider monkey and always the first to be there with her quick wit to pull you back up when you’re feeling down. After reading as a hobby for most of her life it wasn’t until she had discovered R. L. Mathewson’s ‘Neighbor from Hell Series’ and Tara Sivec’s ‘Playing with Fire Series’ that she came up with the idea to fuse comedy and suspense together and her passion for writing was born.

Excerpt, Interview & Giveaway! The Minder by Catherine L. Byrne

When down-on-his-luck minder Chase takes on a job for a fading gangster, the job and his charge both turn out to be very different to what he expected. Someone is trying to sabotage the mobster’s business and doesn’t care who they hurt in the process. Soon Chase finds himself on the run with his charge, trying to carry out a friend’s last wishes before their pursuers catch up with them.

They sneaked down the stairs and along the corridor like ghosts, the voices of the killers shouting in the distance. Chase went first and they reached the long, white kitchen. The spare sets of car keys were in a box by the back door so people could take or return them on the way out. He had just grabbed one when Jody clutched his arm.

“I have to go back for my phone,” he hissed.

“Really? You little—” But Jody had a point. They needed phones to communicate. “I’ll come with you. Just a sec.” He pointed the key through the window blinds at the parked cars lining the driveway by the garage and the red Ferrari 458 flashed its lights. “Nice.”

“Come on.” Jody pulled his arm again and they crept out of the kitchen towards the stairs and Jody’s bedroom.

They reached Jody’s room and it only took him a few minutes to locate the phone and shove it in his pocket. Then Chase remembered something.

“Quick, come with me.” He steered Jody into Tony’s office, unlocked the safe, took out stacks of notes and put them in his rucksack.

“What are you doing?” Jody glared at him. “Stealing?”

Chase pushed him against the wall—no time for pleasantries. “Listen, we’ve got to go or they’ll kill us too,” he snarled in Jody’s face. “Understand? Come with me or I’ll leave you to them.”

Jody gulped and nodded, his brown eyes wide.

“Good.” Chase let him go and dragged him out of the office and down the stairs.

What talent do you wish you had but don't?

I’d like to be able to sing beautifully or dance well. And any kind of sporting or physical talent would be good, because I’m a confirmed bookworm who lives in my head all the time and can’t do anything practical.

Will technology save society or destroy it?

Probably destroy it. Stephen Hawking reckons that Artificial Intelligent will quickly kill off all humans, like in the Terminator story. I think it’s crazy to invent machines which can think for themselves and create themselves—I’m sure they’ll soon see humans as pests. So we better make the most of what time we’ve got left…

Catherine L Byrne writes stories about relationships which push buttons and provoke reactions from readers. She writes about both gay and straight relationships, depending on which characters in her books shout the loudest to have their stories told.

An inquisitive author, she prefers writing about different situations in each book rather than writing a series about the same one—her stories range from 10th century Viking Britain, to modern educational settings and from mystery to romance.

As she was born and bred in England and lives there with her family, this infuses her books with a distinctly English tone. She has been writing since as long as she can remember and Extasy Books have published her novels since 2014.

Book Promo! Cuba Undercover by Linda Bond

His revenge will change her life forever…

Cuban-American TV reporter Rebecca Menendez’s success comes from playing by the rules. When she’s kidnapped by a fierce and intensely handsome man who needs her help, however, all of those rules seem pointless. Nothing could have prepared her for being taken hostage…or the irresistible reward if she complies: information about her long-thought dead father.

Antonio Vega has spent almost every day of his adult life dreaming of revenging his father’s death. With his sister’s life and freedom in jeopardy, Antonio isn’t taking any chances. But once Rebecca and Antonio are in Cuba, they’re immersed in a world of corruption, deceit, and betrayal. It’s a deadly game…and there are no rules.

Linda Bond loves to read. She started with those great Nancy Drew books. Remember Nancy Drew and ‘The Secret of the Old Clock?” How about ‘The Mystery of the 99 Steps?’ She really liked smart, gutsy heroines, even at a young age. In high school, Linda discovered historical romances by authors like the great Kathleen Woodiwiss. She read at least three books a week. So many her mother actually called a conference with her teacher, worried, and overwrought that her innocent little girl was reading those trashy romance novels.
What was she learning? Linda’s teacher just looked at her mom and said, “Your daughter reads three books a week?” Linda’s mother said, “Yes, at least. And I don’t know what to do.”
“Let her read,” Linda’s teacher responded. And, so she did.
Harold Robbins and Jackie Collins took Linda out of her high school hallways and into the glamorous Hollywood Hills.
John Grisham, James Patterson, and Harlen Coben can still keep Linda up all night. Turning pages, ladies, turning pages.
Linda lives for a good romantic thriller. Which is probably why she’s a reporter. She’s addicted to the rush of adrenaline that comes with finding and crafting a great story.
Each day Linda writes about someone’s unique life. In Linda’s world, 400 words must carry the weight of 400 pages. Linda writes a dreaded synopsis every single day- under deadline.
Now, Linda is retraining herself to do just the opposite. She’s punching up her pages with powerful passages. With each new chapter, Linda smiles, because she loves to tell a story.
It’s really as simple as that.
The best way to really know Linda Bond is to read what she writes. That’s where the real fun begins.

Excerpt & Giveaway!! Just a Kiss (A Wine Country Romance Series, #1) by Kate Kisset

Three friends,
One Wine Country Villa
Six Santino Brothers
And lots of wine…

Reeling from the loss of her mother, Sarah Dupont catches her fiancé doing the nasty on top of her pastry table at their San Francisco Bakery.
Devastated, she calls her best friend, lifestyle reporter, Danica Vargas. Danica convinces Sarah to start fresh, and rent a room with her at an historic mansion in Sonoma Valley.
With two roommates who act like the sisters she never had and a feisty landlord to stand in as the grandmother she always wanted, Sarah’s opens a café on the Sonoma Plaza. Her life changes the moment the little bell on the door rings and the notoriously sexy actor Jamie Santino, swaggers in.
Jamie, one of the six Santino Brothers, of Napa Valley Winery fame, needs baking lessons for his new movie and Sarah is just the woman to teach him. Wine flows, their love affair heats up and a tempestuous femme fatale enters the scene.
How can Sarah trust that Jamie isn’t acting when everything he says seems too good to be true?

They stepped into the elevator at the same time, and the door rumbled shut. Back in the shadowiness together, Sarah held the platters against her.

The lack of light magnified the intensity of her senses, and she listened to every little breath he took. When their uncovered arms brushed against each other, her heart started rapid firing again. She steadied herself by matching the rhythm of his exhales, easing her body a little more with every quiet sigh.

Now relaxed, Sarah cautiously inched toward him, letting her nose brush lightly over the cool T-shirt fabric covering his bicep. His muscles felt like a smooth mound of sand packed in water. Closing her eyes, she gave herself permission to let go just for a moment.

Parting her lips and letting her nose lead her slowly to his shoulder, she came to rest against his warm, salty neck and inhaled heaven.

Her cheek brushed lightly against the stubble of his beard. Using her lips, she grazed over his skin until finally, she kissed him. Slowly she savored the lips she’d been craving. His tongue barely touched hers before a small gasp escaped his lips and pierced through her. He trembled and moved his hands to the small of her back.

“Lose the platters, Sarah.” He pulled her into him tighter.

But Sarah continued to suck on his delectably full lower lip.

Jamie drew a deep breath and pulled away. “The platters,” he said on his exhale and kissed her harder.

Sarah let go, sending the trays crashing to the floor. He kicked them out of the way with the side of his boot. Reaching under her arms, he moved her against the wall, pressing his body fully against hers. Nothing came between them now.

Finally, finally, he slowly slipped his tongue inside to explore her mouth. First tantalizing, then circling in a steamy wet dance, he probed in and out. She couldn’t get enough of his clean, delicious taste. She changed her position for better balance, her head and body swimming in an unsteady blur as the elevator descended.

Her knees shook, her heart pounded, and her ears burned, but she wanted him closer.

With a clank, the metal door shrugged open, breaking in on their kiss and filling the elevator with bright light. She detected a hazy contemplative burn of what had to be pure lust coming from Jamie. A rush of excitement fluttered through her. His warm breath caressed her nose.

He nodded his head. Shook it as if to say something, and grinned.

“What?” Sarah raised her chin with a smile.

Jamie lifted his eyebrows.

“Tell me. What? You can say it.”

He moved closer, bringing his lips an inch from hers. “You kissed me,” he whispered.

Sarah looked at the ceiling, trying to keep a straight face. She had to focus to not burst out laughing with happiness.

She studied Jamie giving her lips a sexy stare down.

“You. Kissed. Me.” Grinning, he cocked his head.

Book Promo! Torn By Love, Scarred by Love #4 by C.A. Harms

Lily’s life was anything but easy.

Losing their father unexpectedly, and a mother that left long ago…

Is was always her and her brother against the world.

Until she met Tanner Parks her life was basic…

Uneventful but simple.

He was the unattainable bad boy…

Just out of reach yet Lily longed for him desperately.

He was fowl mouthed and cocky.

He was demanding and arrogant.

But he was exactly what Lily needed…

He made her stronger.

He gave you the drive to keep her head above water, when everything was falling apart around her.

“You sure you’re ready for Grandma Edna and her meddling?” I asked as I led Lily up my parents’ driveway. Everyone was here with the exception of Zander and Riley, who was still ordered to stay off her feet. She was chomping at the bit to get out, but Zander wasn’t budging. She was even willing to come see Grandma, which should tell everyone just how bored she truly was. No one willingly came to our Sunday brunches, not when Edna was involved.

“I’m fine, Tanner. She can’t be that bad.”

I could only shake my head and wrap my arm around her shoulders just a little tighter. Poor girl had no idea what she was about to walk into.

I heard her nagging the moment I entered the house.

“The way you boys mistreat your bodies, I just can’t get over it. Mason at least only has one tattoo.” Grandma always found a way to tell us we were doing everything wrong.

“Nope, got four. Three are just in places I only allow Kelly to enjoy,” Mason clarified.

“Don’t forget about his piercings. He has a couple of those.” Max had found a way to keep the attention off himself. “What piercings?” my mother and Granny E said in unison.

“Another place only Kelly is allowed to enjoy.” Mason seemed so refined and straitlaced. No one would expect him to have his junk pierced. Now the secret was out.

“Max, I would expect it from you or even Tanner, but Mason?” my mother announced. We had just rounded the corner, and Lily snickered at her comment.

“What the hell?” I asked. “I’m not even here sixty seconds and somehow I’m already being talked about.”

My mom smiled as she stood from the couch and pulled me in for a hug. “What took you so long?” she asked.

I tilted my head to the side, motioning to Lily. “Lil couldn’t decide what to wear. I told her she looked beautiful in anything, but she didn’t believe me.” Lily had finally decided on a pale blue dress, which brought out the color of her eyes. It was conservative and covered entirely too much in my opinion, but I knew she was worried about her first impression on Granny.

My mother’s gaze shifted to Lily. “Well hello, sweetheart, I’m glad you’re here,” she said as she hugged her. I loved how accepting and welcoming my mother was. She was an amazing woman.

I looked up just in time to see my grandma analyzing Lily from across the room. Her eyes softened from their usual judgmental haze. She took a few steps in our direction, and I held my breath, praying, hoping she’d keep her judgments to herself. I was more than positive I would not be able to hold my tongue if she said something out of line.

“Who is this beautiful young woman?”

Well suck me dry. I think I heard someone quietly whisper, “What the fuck?” I was sure it came from one of my brothers.

“I’m Edna, honey, and what’s your name?’ she asked Lily.

I think Lil was just as shocked as everyone else. I had prepped her for the cranky version of Granny. Nowhere in that conversation had I mentioned the woman that now stood before us.

The room was full of open-mouthed, mesmerized, yet confused people.

“Lily.” Her shaky voice came out barely above a whisper.

“Well, Lily, it is nice to meet you. Come with me. Let’s go get us some tea.” She hooked her arm through

Lily’s and led her toward the kitchen.

Silence set in as we all watched the two of them walk away. Lily never looked back. In fact, you could hear her soft laughter as they stepped out of sight.
