Author Interview, Excerpt & Giveaway! Discovering Dalton, Manchester Menage Collection #2 by Nicole Colville

At fifteen, Troy and Liam were fostered by the same family, and although they hated each other at first, they gradually became solid friends. As adults, the two foster brothers live together. Both experience tough times, each being a rock for the other, but their love had never been anything other than brotherly.

Until they both fall for the same guy, and things get... complicated.

Dalton is fresh out of a ten year marriage. Feeling lost, he concentrates on the only thing he can control—his body. Developing from a chubby, unfit police officer into a lean, mean inked one, Dalton has never looked better, but inside, he's never felt worse. A relationship is far from his thoughts, and one with another man makes Dalton even more confused. He takes time to get to know Troy and Liam separately, but Manchester isn’t that big, and sparks fly when fate throws the three together.

Together, these three fight it out between them. Both Troy and Liam demand Dalton choose between them, but what if he didn't have to choose? What if it could work between three?

The things in life we fight for are never the easiest, but they’re the ones worth holding onto forever.

Liam chatted with Milo, but Dalton was too busy trying to stop hyperventilating and not staring at Liam’s body, seeing it as he last saw it—wet and tense, excited and looking sinful in that shower cubicle. Those types of thoughts weren’t going to help him calm down. Why oh why did that have to happen?

Blue leaned in, calming strokes running up and down Dalton’s back, sweetly spoken words whispered against his neck, and Dalton’s tension eased a little. “Is he an ex or something?”

“No,” Dalton choked out.

“Oh, I just thought there was some history there.” Blue’s glossy red lips curled into a smile.

“There’s no history of that kind.”

“But there is some to speak about?” Blue opened his green eyes wider and nodded. “It’s obvious. Maybe it’s time you resolved this tension between the two of you somehow.”

“What?” Dalton stiffened.

“Well, there's obviously something happening between you two.”

“Yeah, but not what you think.”

Blue bit his lip while he thought. “Hmm, there’s a few different things going on from where I'm sitting.” He nudged his thigh against Dalton’s dick, and for the first time, he realised he was excited. “Or is this for me?”

Dalton truly had no idea. He was confused by his own body, not understanding why he was reacting at all. But it had happened in the showers while he watched Liam. Maybe it was those moments replaying in his mind which caused his cock to stiffen in his jeans.

Maybe it was the fact he had someone sitting on him, caring about him, someone with long legs and big heels, who was wearing make-up and who was confusing Dalton’s body by being more feminine than he was used to in a man. But then, Dalton was close to Samuel. He was beautiful and more feminine than Blue and this had never happened, and hadn't Samuel been sitting on his knee earlier? Maybe he was losing his mind. Maybe he’d already lost it.

“I don’t… I really don’t know,” he whispered into Blue’s hair. “I just… I have to go.”

“Wait, sexy.” Blue pressed his body more into his, meeting his eyes, those black lashes coated thickly in mascara. “Don’t run off just yet. There’s no need.”

“I'm not gay,” Dalton rushed out as low as he could make his voice, darting his gaze to Liam, his tight V-necked vest showing off those big muscles, jeans encasing his firm arse, that bottle hanging in between his lips.

This time, when Blue rubbed his thigh over his cock, Dalton grabbed Blue’s slender calf running up his leg and just held it, not moving him away but not pulling him closer—just frozen, not knowing what to do.

“You don’t have to label yourself with anything, Dalton.” Blue took hold of his chin, fingertips gently caressing his skin and making Dalton shift his gaze from Liam back to him. “I think…” He eased closer still, his thigh now pressed against the rigid length encased in Dalton’s jeans. “If your body needs something, it lets you know. If your eyes find something pleasing, they look more. If your heart beats faster for someone, then you follow it. I'm not gay. I'm a person. A human being. That’s the label I want to be tagged with. Hashtag Human.” He clicked his fingers with a bright smile.

Dalton smiled through his fear and understood what Blue was saying. He just wasn’t ready to think the same way. “That’s nice.”

“It’s the truth. The truth is always a good thing. I always think our brains confuse us. They have all this bullshit ‘learned’ behaviour which they pick up over the years and it tells you to think one way, your body saying another. It takes time for those two to work together and come to some sort of an agreement, but we all get there eventually. Just don’t pressure yourself, hon.” Blue leaned in, kissing the corner of his mouth, Dalton’s cock now crushed against his thigh. “Of course, I would like to think this is for me, but I know better.” Blue pulled back with a heavy sigh. “If you change your mind though…” He winked with a chuckle.

“Blue.” Samuel was beside them, looking between them both. “Dalton’s a bit…” He drifted off, worrying his bottom lip with his teeth, obviously not wanting to spill too much personal info about Dalton’s bad day and emotional state.

“Confused, sweetie?” Blue offered brightly.

“Yeah.” Samuel looked to the sky, then took hold of Blue’s hand. “You go get some air, Dalton.”

Today I’m very lucky to be interviewing Nicole Colville, author of Discovering Dalton.

Hi Nicole, thank you for agreeing to this interview. Tell us a little about yourself, your background, and your current book.

Is there a character in your books that you can’t stand? (Antagonist for example) And what makes them someone you don’t like?

Not in this book. There have been characters I despise in my other series for one reason or another, but in Dalton there was no one who I disliked, even Dalton’s ex-wife I wanted to meet up and give a hug. She could have been the typical ex who hated and made Dalton’s life difficult, and people who have read Samuel’s book will know she was having an affair which broke Dalton’s heart, but she wasn’t an evil witch. A marriage breaks down over time and it’s no one’s fault, bare minimum it takes two people to break up. I tried not to the lay the blame on anyone. It was something which happened and it was the right thing for them.

Are there misconceptions people have about your genre?

I guess a lot of people think it’s all about the sex, or that the relationship between two or more men are completely different from their own experiences. Showing LGBT relationships are exactly the same as all other relationships is something I love doing, and I also enjoy making sure that although my books contain my men’s sex life, not all M/M books do. Every genre has so many sub sections to choose from, and ours is no different. There’s something for everyone and even now I find things I’ve never read before in the genre.

There’s a huge misconception that only men read M/M books, why I don’t know because plenty of men read M/F books, even if they fall into the non-romantic genre, there’s no judgement that they can’t, but with M/M it seems to be an issue for plenty of people. When I tell them around 70% or higher readers are female I always laugh at their faces. Then I get asked why? Well, the simple answer is that often people don’t distinguish between the relationships, and if they do, they find something in the genre which is lacking in others for them.

Is there message in your novel that you hope readers grasp?

That bad things happen for a reason, and to always try to see the positive things that one bad thing could lead to. Too often we get caught up in our own world of anger, jealousy, and depression, but in time we see the way out. Perhaps you can’t find your way out alone, and that’s when it’s time to let people in. It’s difficult, and at times those people who care have to force their way into your world, but those people are the ones who truly love you.

How has your writing evolved since your first book? (If this is your first book, how do you hope it evolves?)

Oh I’ve grown in so many ways, tried out several writing styles, different point of views, enhanced the way I show not tell. My first book is always something I will be proud of and look back on with a loving heart, but I am also proud to see how much I’ve grown and developed over the last three years. I always want to continue to learn and grow, and I hope to always continue to find people who I can share this knowledge with and cheerlead them on to writing their own books.

One food you don’t care if you never eat it again.

Asparagus. Ugh!

Book Blitz! Excerpt & Giveaway! Stupid Love, Stupid in Love #3 by Cindy Miles

Bestselling new adult author Cindy Miles is set to capture the hearts of STUPID GIRL fans again with the grand finale of the Stupid in Loveseries, featuring Memory and Jace.

MEMORY

Casualties.

That’s how I refer to the guys who’ve had the bad fortune to fall for me. They only see long legs that they wish were wrapped around them, a cat-like smile, and the reckless abandon to take on any wild dare. It’s all a game to me. Show me a bridge, and I’ll leap over the side. Give me a car, and I’ll race it. Give me a heart, and I’ll break it. I always win. I even showed Death who was boss a long time ago.

Or so I thought.

Now, time is running out, and I’m losing fast…and big. I met someone. Jace Beaumont. He’s smart, and good, and I dream about spending days exploring the summit of his perfect lips. But, I’m a grenade. I know I should leave him be. I can’t.

JACE

Study, class, work, repeat. That’s all I have time for. At twenty-five years old, I have a bit more mileage on me than the average college freshman. But, that’s what happens when you spend your youth drinking, partying, and bagging girls like it’s a full-time job. Now, I have goals. There’s just one kink in my plans. Her name is Memory. She’s every guy’s dream girl. She’s intoxicating. She’s trouble. I want to stay away. I can’t.

“So, you want to know who I really am?” I asked Jace as I rose to my feet on Morgan’s Bridge. The sun was gone now, but still light enough to see. Almost dark, but not quite. “Why? Have you heard rumors? Wait! Don’t answer that,” I continued. “You’re pals with Brax Jenkins. Since he’s the king of bad reputation, I’m sure he can single out badasses just as easily.” I winked at him. “Takes one to know one, right?”

Jace laughed softly. “Yeah, he said you’re known for some pretty crazy stunts on campus. A player. Adrenaline junkie.”

“Hmmm,” I answered. “I guess I’d be lying if I didn’t lay claim to all of those accusations. What can I say? I love to live life to the fullest.” I cupped my hands at my mouth. “I’m young! I’m twenty-two!” My voice echoed over the water and through the trees. I squatted down and shot him a lingering look. “I just simply don’t allow all of that to define me. You see,” I went on, wrapping my arms around my legs and hugging them close. With my chin resting against my knees, I looked at him. “There are many more facets to my psyche than I ever, ever let on. You know? Keeps me in a sort of shady shroud of mystery.”

“A shady shroud, huh?” he repeated, and chuckled. “What are you majoring in?”

“Fine arts,” I answered, and sat close to him. “BFA.”

“And what will you do with that?” he asked.

“I’m a self-proclaimed ornamental metalwork designer,” I told him. “And that’s pre-degree, yes sir. Got a business license and everything.” I flashed him a grin. “Calypso Designs. I make a pretty decent coin with the whirlygigs and windcatchers I create in the workshop by the barn. Any sort of crazy welded metal art statue I can dream up. Calypso Designs, Inc. Google me, why don’t ya?”

Jace just kept his eyes on me, and in the faded light they hardly looked green at all. More like shadows in the mouth of a cave. “Any siblings?”

“Nope. Only child.”

He nodded again. “You’re close to your dad?”

I smiled. “Very. He raised me alone after Mom died. Taught me about brazing rods, oxyacetylene, how to set up the fuel tanks. Taught me how to strike a torch, how not to look directly at an arc flash. Taught me…everything I know.” I felt my heart pinch, because I loved my dad more than anything. “He’s a damn good man, Jace Beaumont.”

His teeth were a ghostly white in the dusk. “I believe you, Memory Thibodeaux.”

“Okay.” I changed gears from the serious stuff. “Here’s the final chapter of tonight’s grand Thank You For Changing My Belt Date. Then we’ll have dessert. Ready?”

Jace laughed. “Yeah, why not. Shoot.”

I could barely see his features now. “Remember how I said this bridge was haunted?”

“Yep.”

“Well,” I continued. “The legend goes that back in 1923, Madigan Morgan and Company—not to be confused with the Morgans of the Morgan’s Louisiana and Texas Railroad—was commissioned to build this trestle for the Southern Pacific Railroad. Anyway, Madigan Morgan was rumored to have had a love affair with a beautiful, beguiling witchdoctor who lived in the woods, just there”—I pointed toward the forest on the other side of the river—“named Gilly from New Orleans. Right behind his wife Adelaide’s back. Well, the construction of the trestle was finally finished, but not before Adelaide Morgan found out about the affair.” I leaned closer. “It’s rumored she gathered her three brothers and went after Gilly the witch one moonlit night.” I glanced up. “Much like tonight, yeah.” I wiggled my brows.

Jace watched me closely and in silence, and although it had grown fairly dark I could still make out the amused expression pulling smile lines around his eyes and mouth. He smelled good. A faint, woodsy, clean smell. Like pine needles, with a ting of ocean spray, if I had to put a name to it. I continued.

“Well Madigan Morgan was supposedly to have scheduled a rendezvous with Gilly right here where we sit, that very night, in the center of the trestle,” I said softly. “Gilly was a raven-haired French-Acadian Cajun, you see, and had the sensual power to make a man do just about anything. And he’d fallen hard and fast for her. Anyway,” I said with a grin, and I looked out over the moon that had slowly risen, and watched the water lap at the bank’s edges. “When Madigan arrived for the rendezvous, it was just in time to see his wife and brothers-in-law binding Gilly’s hands with rope. He started to run up the hill to stop them, but could hear Gilly’s voice. She wasn’t pleading for her life. Wasn’t begging for them to let her go.” I reached slowly between the boards beneath me until my hand felt the heavy-duty nylon rope I’d placed there myself back in October when Crisco and I had bungee jumped off the bridge. Eased my hand through the slipknot and grasped it tight, all the while, keeping my gaze on Jace’s. “She was cursing them, Jace Beaumont,” I said huskily. “Just before they shoved her off the bridge!”

Over the edge I went, just as though I’d been pushed by Gilly herself, and as soon as I cleared the boards I grasped the rope with my other hand and hung there, mid-air, just beneath the trestle.

And at the same time, Jace leapt to his feet.

“Memory!” he yelled. “Fuck! Memory!”

Hanging beneath the very place he stood, I burst out laughing. “Do you kiss your mama with that mouth, boy?”

In a flash, Jace was on his stomach and peering over the edge of the trestle at me, swinging on my rope.

“Boy, you look pissed!” I exclaimed, laughing. “I didn’t know you could move so fast—Jace!”

The moment I swung within his reach he grabbed me, and let me say that although he was muscular, he was way stronger than I’d suspected. He pulled me up and over the trestle, and I barely helped. He did it that fast. And he all but plunked me down onto the track.

Jace pushed off and stood, clasping his fingers behind his neck. “Jesus God, Memory!” He turned to me then, and I could see fury in the shadows of his eyes. “Don’t you ever fucking do that again.” He moved toward me where I was still sitting on the track, and hauled me up. His fingers encircled my arms, and he gave me a slight shake, and we were almost nose-to-nose. A muscle flinched at his stubbled jaw, and his dark brows were furrowed. His eyes flashed. “Do you have a death wish? Or are you just crazy?”

The irony of his words almost made me laugh. At the same time, though, I was touched. I was used to being egged on. Used to being dared.

I was not used to Jace’s reaction.

The main character of STUPID LOVE has a bit of an odd name, Memory. Where did you get that name from and what significance does it hold?

Years ago my husband and I had one of our first cars insured at a small town company and the girl working the desk was named Memory ☺ I always thought she had such an interesting name! Although I’ve written many books, this is the first time the name really fit a heroine. As the story goes, it does hold a double meaning. She’s fought a life-threatening disease and won, and she plans on making each memory in her life count! ☺

Memory is described as a bit of a wild child. How did the process for writing her character differ from creating your previous heroines in the series, Olivia and Harper?

Olivia and Harper both had horrible things happen to them in their past, and the events were caused by another person. Memory’s significant past came at the hand of fate, not another person’s ruthless act. Overcoming it made her strong, though, just as Olivia and Harper’s did. But it also made Memory complacent. Writing her wild-child mannerisms was entirely a blast! She just lives each moment as though it was her last, and doesn’t take her loved ones for granted.

Memory zip lines, swing from bridges, and a few other things that would make most people have heart palpations. What is the most adventuresome thing you’ve ever done? How did you weave that experience into STUPID LOVE?

Hmmm…I’d love to think I was once a daredevil! I did grow up on the river, and I water skied, etc. I’ve climbed crumbling castles. But I don’t think I’m quite as daring as Memory! It’s fun imagining it though!

What is your favorite line from STUPID LOVE?

Wow—there are a lot! But “I am so in crazy with you” stands out. ☺

What makes Jace Beaumont the perfect match for Memory?

As my grandma used to say, “he is the sugar in her tomato sauce” Lol! Jace grounds Memory, I think. He shows her how to love deeply. ☺

What’s your next project on the horizon?

I’m not quite sure yet! I’m playing around with a few ideas including another New Adult, or a YA perhaps. ☺

Lightning Round! Answer the following prompts with the first thing that comes to mind:

a. Vacation is best at the beach or in the mountains? Beach

b. Is everything better with bacon? Of course!

c. What’s your favorite social media venue to interact with readers? Facebook

d. What’s the last book you read? Dark Places by Gillian Flynn. Excellent!

e. Kimmel, Fallon, or past your bedtime? OMG FALLON!

f. Besides the main couples in the Stupid in Love series—Olivia and Brax, Harper and Kane, and Memory and Jace—who was your most favorite character to write? I loved Jilly in Stupid Girl, and I adored his old pal Jasper in Stupid Love!

g. Favorite musician of all time? No way! Too difficult! But one of my top 5 is Freddy Mercury ☺ Steve Tyler ☺

h. Favorite place to write? On my porch swing ☺

Excerpt, Author Interview & Giveaway! Please Understand by Fai Marie Dawson

To keep his mother off his back, Fox struggles to live life as a straight man. Following his failed marriage, he thinks he’s found a piece of heaven when he meets Audrey, a sexy dark-haired beauty. When he’s introduced to her twin brother, his life turns upside down. Mrs. Jones, a regular shopper at Fox’s quaint neighborhood bookstore, steps in to referee the fall-out. Can Fox maintain relationships with both Audrey and her brother? Can a late night train chase bring Fox closer to the one he loves? How far will Fox’s mother go to keep her son tight in her clutches?

It was shortly after lunch on Friday that Mrs. Jones came in. Although she had shown such tenderness to Audrey, I was still in fear and awe of this woman. To me she was curt and demanding. I still dreaded Fridays on account of her. Today she barged through the door: middle aged, shaped like a tank, with a formidable purse that I suspected she could brandish as a weapon if she so chose. I shamefully admit that I hid, shaking, in the back room. I remained hidden behind the door as I watched through the space under the hinge.

She marched straight over to Tommie, who was innocently concentrating in his chair, bent over his laptop. He didn’t stand a chance.

“You, there!”

Tommie looked up and scanned the shop. Not finding me, he sacrificed himself for the greater cause.

“Yes?”

“Tommie?”

He said something I couldn’t hear then he looked around the shop again, I supposed in a vain hope that I might come rescue him. I saw him take a deep breath, preparing himself for the inevitable. Poor man didn’t have a clue what he was up against. I knew I should come out of hiding, but so help me, I didn’t have the strength. I had been dealing with her on my own every Friday for over a year, and my morbid curiosity wanted to see what she could do to someone else.

“What can I help you with, Ms. ––?

“Mrs. Jones.” She said it decisively and firmly. No question about it, she was Mrs. Jones. Like no other, she stood like a rock.

He nodded and snapped his laptop shut. “What can I help you with, Mrs. Jones?” When he stood, her eyes scanned down his body like a CT scan, slowly taking in and savoring every inch carefully.

He carried his laptop and set it on the shelf under the front counter. Mrs. Jones took in the view from behind, her head tilted thoughtfully.

I remained silent. This was getting interesting. I was seeing a side of Mrs. Jones I hadn’t known existed. I was anxious to see if Tommie could handle her.

“Well,” she said a bit breathlessly. “Tommie, your jeans are a bit tight.” He turned slowly, but her eyes settled on his midsection, centering on the zipper of his jeans.

“My eyes are up here, Mrs. Jones.”

“Totally inappropriate!” But her eyes still wandered appreciatively over Tommie’s landscape.

“Very well, Mrs. Jones,” I saw him smile pleasantly then ask, “But may I help you find something?”

I didn’t hear what she said, but to my dismay, he led her to the closet where my adult books were stashed. I almost came out to prevent the disaster that I anticipated, but instead of indignation, within moments they returned to the front desk, and I watched as he rang up her purchases. She had chosen several books.

“I hope you enjoy these, Mrs. Jones.”

“You’ve been most helpful, Tommie, not like that naughty Fox that you work for.”

She waved goodbye happily and blew him a kiss as she went out the door, her purchases held tightly to her ample chest.

“Coward!” I assumed he was talking to me, although he didn’t look up.

Today I’m very lucky to be interviewing Fai Marie Dawson author of Please Understand. Hi Fai, thank you for agreeing to this interview. Tell us a little about yourself, your background, and your current book.

Tell us something no one else knows about your title.

When I came out in my late forties, this was a phrase I said many times. “Please Understand…

“…that I am always the same person you’ve always known and trusted.”

…that my family values mean that I cannot disrespect my girlfriend by hiding my love for her.”

…that you don’t have to become gay yourself in order to maintain a friendship with me.”

…you won’t contaminate yourself or your faith to allow me in your home or life.”

And the list goes on. It seemed reasonable then, that Tommie would use this phrase throughout the story. It seemed reasonable then, that I could use it in the title to once again ask the world to Please Understand.

What inspires you in life or in writing?

As Toni, in our writer support group says on a daily basis, “It’s all research.” I had to buy new gutters for my 110 year old house. She responds, “It’s all research.” I overheard someone call me lazy, because I stay home and write all day. Toni responds, “It’s all research.” I was complaining about my hair. We all respond, “It’s all research!” Everything around me goes into the pot I paint from. It’s all research, it’s all inspiration. But, of course, my cat thinks he is the source of all my inspiration. You can see him on Instagram @Faidrah.

What is the most important thing about your subject/genre that people need to know?

The most important thing about the gay romance genre is that love is love. Society seems to suspect that gay love feels different somehow, surely not as real as hetero love. That it’s somehow second best, or less. I can assure you—it’s real, it’s intense, and it’s strong.

How did you become involved in the subject/theme of your book?

The theme of Please Understand is dear to my heart. Two people of the same gender fall in love. My own story is not the same as this, but it was still dramatic for me. Halfway through my life I fell in love with my best friend. I had been a church secretary for five years at a very conservative fundamentalist church. My love was the pastor’s daughter. You can imagine how well that went over. But she and I are married now, still together, still happy. We’ve learned to live without the people who were once close to us. We survive, we thrive. Both of our sons are supportive.

What famous person (living or dead) would you like to meet and why?

I would like to meet Marilyn Monroe. She is a woman that has always fascinated me, and I would love to get a glimpse into the real person. If she lived now, and not as a fifties or sixties bombshell sex goddess, who would she be?

Fai Dawson lives in a small town thirty miles northeast of Seattle Washington in the foothills of the Cascade Mountains with her beloved wife, Becky. Together, they work on restoring their 110-year-old Victorian home. She spends her days writing, blogging and walking Moxie, their Newfie-Chow through the rainy streets of town. Pepe, a brave and proud tuxedo cat is her muse, ever mindful of providing inspiration for her next project. Although she has filled countless journals in her life, she began writing seriously in 2009 as a way to deal with anxiety. She is currently working on her next manuscript.

Excerpt, Author Interview & Giveaway! Discovery, Drakyl Ranch #1 by Thianna Durston

Warning: This book is a paranormal m/m romance with some horror elements. It also crosses cowboy and vampire genres. If you don’t think cowboys look hot with fangs, you’re missing out.

Living in Montana and working the ranch is all Aaron wants to do for the rest of his life. Diagnosed as allergic to the sun thirteen years previous, every day is a struggle to get out of bed. Having to wear long-sleeved shirts, gloves, and even material to cover his face from the effects of the sun, just makes it all worse. Now, in his thirty-second year, he is sure this will be his last summer. While he hates it, he knows he needs to come to terms with the truth and put things in order for his younger cousins. Before he does so, he heads out for one night of pleasure before facing what’s coming.

Jaret loves excitement and new adventures. For over five hundred years, he has sought them out. In Montana on a whim, he comes across someone he doesn’t expect, someone who makes him feel things he does not understand and does not want to give up. In no time at all, he feels like he cannot live without Aaron. The only problem is Aaron doesn’t know who he is, what he is, nor that he isn’t going to die. Not on Jaret’s watch. With a plan to help the other man discover who he is in place, he only has one thing to worry about: whether an ancient enemy will come and destroy everything he now holds dear.

“You’re not going to die, Aaron.”

“You don’t know that. This sickness, ailment, curse…whatever the fuck it is. It’s gettin’ worse. And it’s changin’. Morphin’ into somethin’ scary. My nightmares lately have been horrible.”

“What kind of nightmares?” Of course, Jaret knew. They were the same kind all of them had during the change. Fire and ice as the body went through horrendous chills and soaring high fevers. They would only stop once the change was complete. For after that, there was no real sleep anymore.

“Bein’ caught on high mountains, pelted with snow. Of the forests here bright with orange fire. Of you—” His voice broke. “Callin’ out my name only I’m no longer here to respond.”

“Babe,” Jaret said in a soft voice, not understanding why but knowing he was closer to this drakyl than he had ever been to anyone. “We’re going to get you cured. Then you can come out with me at night. We’ll keep the place predator free while your cousins slave in the sun. How does that sound?”

A sad attempt at a laugh left the other man’s throat. “Promise me you won’t leave until I’m gone?”

Fury swept along Jaret’s veins. Anger at the sun, the fact the man next to him was terrified, and at Davis for not explaining to the poor man earlier what he was. But mostly, he was furious at himself for not telling Aaron the truth. Leaning in, he placed his nose against Aaron’s. “I promise you,” he said in a deep growl, “that you are not going to die, Aaron Drakyl. I won’t let it happen.”

Today I’m very lucky to be interviewing Thianna Durston author of Discovery.

Hi Thianna, thank you for agreeing to this interview. Tell us a little about yourself, your background, and your current book.

Do you buy a book because of the cover, the blurb, or something else?

There are several ‘things’ that will encourage me to buy a book. If I am unfamiliar with the author, the cover is the first line of defense. If it turns me off, I won’t go any further. However, if I like it or if it intrigues me, I will read the blurb. If the blurb truly captures me, I’ll buy it. But if I’m still iffy, I’ll download a sample. There are very few authors who are ‘auto buys’ for me. Jordan. L. Hawk, M.L. Ryan, and Andrew Grey are the only three who I do not have to read the blurb to snatch up their works. But Heidi Cullinan’s definitely getting close to that. Especially her Love Lessons series – I love Walter Lucas.

What does ‘romance’ mean to you?

That’s a hard word to define. In terms of romance in books, it means the couple needs to grow, have troubles, and come out on top and together. I love imperfect heroes who either have to overcome their faults or who have a partner who learns to either just accept or outright love that fault.

What are your current projects? How much time do you have?

*grins* Besides finishing the next 5 books in the Drakyl Ranch series, I’m also working on book 5 of a contemporary M/M romance series of which the first two are contracted with Dreamspinner Press and the 3rd and 4th books have been submitted. I’m also working on a book for Dreamspinner’s new Dreamspun Desires line which I’m excited about. Also, I’m heading up a multi-author M/M action/suspense romance series that will debut in about a year.

What is the most difficult part of writing for you?

Writer’s block. Some say it doesn’t exist – I say bah! Some books flow so well, but others? Not so much. I’m a pantser so I don’t plot beforehand. My muse works through me and the story goes from the ether through my fingers into the computer. When those characters stop talking? It’s pure torture. Especially when that manuscript is due.

Tell us something about yourself that would surprise people.

I’m a perfectionist and not necessarily in a good way. I don’t care how other people do things but I’m a bit hard on myself if I don’t get something right the first time. It can get so bad that if I’m in a crowd and someone asks me a question, I literally can suffer through brain freeze where I can’t think of an answer. Even if the question is simple.

Thianna loves to write strong stories with even stronger heroes. While all of her books have an erotic overtone, it is the story that is the most important to her. “The story should be able to stand on its own. The erotic elements are an add-on.”

She enjoys writing about couples with kink, paranormal couples, and straight out strangeness. But more on that later… You can find her at mm.thiannad.com.

She also writes m/f under the name Thianna D.

Excerpt, Author Interview & Giveaway! Buttermilk Ranch, The Hard Riders #1 by Patricia Logan

Wendell Blackowl has spent all his life in the working cow horse show ring where toiling with sweaty cowboys all day is the fodder for wet dreams. Though privately he’s come to terms with his sexuality, publicly Dell’s had to build a façade. When his beloved horse Buttermilk dies, Dell finds himself at loose ends so he decides to pick himself up by his boot straps and do what he’s always wanted to do… open an environmentally friendly organic vegetarian café.

Pace Avila, well known music critic, has been drawn to Austin by the live music scene. When friends invite him to check out a fresh new dinner experience, Pace reluctantly agrees to push the deadline on his national column. He isn’t interested in vegetarian food or a restaurant with the cheesy name of Buttermilk Ranch Café, but the moment Pace lays eyes on the stunning cowboy chef, things begin looking up.

When openly gay Pace walks into his cafe and his life, Dell realizes he’s tired of living a lie and tired of being alone. When Mother Nature throws an unprecedented storm at Austin, the muddy waters threaten to wipe out everything Dell’s worked so hard to build. He soon realizes that with a man like Pace by his side, love really can conquer all.

“Yoo Hoo! Dell, ya up there, ya sidewinder! Get outa bed or I’m gonna drag that lazy ass out!”

“What?” Pace said, startled awake as he lifted his head from Dell’s chest where he’d fallen asleep in the wee hours of the morning. He wiped his face of drool and stared across the muscled chest he loved, finding Dell’s face. He had one eye peeled open and he didn’t look all too happy by what sounded like Branch’s bellowing from downstairs.

“Fuckin’ ass poor timin’,” Dell grumbled as they both sat upright in bed. Pace knew it would be pretty awful if Branch came bursting into the room with them, lying buck naked in bed. “Guess I’d better find out just what the hell he’s doin’ here.” Pace watched as Dell threw his legs over the side of the bed. He watched his ass from behind, noting the muscled expanse of his back and the thick thighs he loved so much, as the man stood.

“What the hell is he doing here? He and the boys had a show,” Pace grumbled.

“Ya rattlesnake! Ya need me to come up there and put my boot up yer ass?” Branch howled. Pace couldn’t help but chuckle. He loved his brother but he loved the disgusted look on Dell’s face more. Dell walked to the doorway and stuck his head out.

“I’ll be down in a minute, ya jackass… unless ya want to see me in all my nekkid glory!” Dell yelled back.

Pace heard a chuckle coming from downstairs. “Hell naw! Get some clothes on there, scarecrow! Yer movin’ slower than a snake’s belly in a wagon rut.”

“Oh for Christ’s sake, here we go,” Dell said, glancing over at him. Pace just buried his face in the pillow and laughed.

Today I’m very lucky to be interviewing Patricia Logan author of Buttermilk Ranch

Hi Patricia, thank you for agreeing to this interview. Tell us a little about yourself, your background, and your current book.

Do you have pictures that you use for your characters?

Why, yes! Yes I do.

Can you share them with us?

By all means. Dell is the Native American and Pace is the little blond twink with spiky hair.

What kind of book would you like to write that people would see as a huge departure for you?

I’m doing it right now. I’ve just started “Unforeseen Danger” which is a thriller/crime novel but there is no sex or profanity on the page so it will be suitable for a younger audience. There are gay characters, though no true love story, though there will be a surprise fun HEA ending. It will be out in late Oct. 2015

Have you ever killed a character? Was it traumatic for you? If you haven’t killed one, would you ever consider it?

I have killed tons of characters, but never a main character. I write happy endings and it would be hard for me to do so. I don’t really see myself doing that anytime soon.

Favorite location you’ve ever written about?

Austin or my fictional suburb of Austin, Westburg is one of my favorites. I set a lot of my stories there and I know Austin fairly well so that is easy for me. I also write a lot of stories set in Los Angeles where I live because I am so at home here. It is very easy to name landmarks like Hollywood for example. Everyone can relate to Hollywood, all around the world. I like my readers to have that connection with my books and who the hell doesn’t love a hot Texas cowboy… getting all sweaty in leather and chaps… oh, sorry…

What’s your favorite season and favorite activity for that season?

Spring is definitely my favorite season. I don’t tolerate extreme heat very well even though I live in SoCal which is pretty damned hot in Summer. Spring is the season which signals new life, freshness, and for me, hope that the rest of the year will be prosperous and filled with joy.

Promo: Excerpt, Author Interview & Giveaway!! Shifting Chaos (Sleepless City Series, #4) by Elizabeth Noble

Chaos reigns in The Sleepless City, and it’s really beginning to piss Detective Jonas Forge off. He’s got inner demons to battle and a life to build with his new soul mate, Blair Turner. Nothing is going right, and he already feels the universe is conspiring against him when a turn of events he never saw coming flips his world upside down.

Hallucinations grip the town and everyone in it, threatening to tear their precariously built family apart, and the only way forward is to bare all to each other. This means Declan and Blair need to learn to accept one another. Lucas Coate has to move forward without ties to his werewolf pack and live a monogamous life with Declan.

But while Forge and Declan confront horrors from their shared past, Simon learns a terrible truth about vampires—one he couldn’t have imagined in his worst nightmares.

“What happened?” Blair asked. He turned his head toward the back door. A second later Moose was running to the back of the house.

Jonas strode in, jerked his jacket off, and tossed it down beside Ben’s helmet, muttering as he went. He stopped and faced them. “Those fools have decided I must be head detective.”

Lucas came to a stop behind Jonas, grinning.

“Wait, you’ve been pissed off all day because you got a promotion?” Blair asked.

Ben lunged forward and threw his arms around Jonas’s neck. “Sweet as! We have to celebrate. It’s about time they recognized you like this. I think it’s crappy you haven’t been promoted until now.”

Jonas pulled in a breath and stepped back from Ben. “I thank you, but it’s a fucking disaster.”

“Another of the Council’s tricks,” Declan added.

“They can’t do this, can they?” Simon said and sat down abruptly on the couch. “That’s against the Council rules.”

“What’s wrong with all of you?” Ben turned in a circle, glaring at each of them in turn.

“I can’t be the head detective.” Jonas took a DVD from the shelf under the television and put it in the player. He grabbed the remote control, aimed, and pointed. “This”—he waved at the scene appearing on the TV—”is why I can’t have this job.”

An image of Stewie in relation to some incident that, by the looks of it, had happened a few years ago appeared on the screen. Underneath were the words “Flint, Ohio, Head Detective Stewart Belle,” and Stewie was speaking to a reporter.

“Oh crap,” Blair said. He and Ben stood side by side.

“Yes. Oh crap covers it nicely. The head detective must be a human, has always been a human. You know, someone who can be seen by a camera and is available during the full moon,” Jonas said. “Before Stewie there was some dick by the name of Felton, and before that we had the oh-so-delightful Smyth.”

Ben nudged Blair and waved one hand between Declan and Jonas. “Have you noticed that between the thief and the cop, the cop is the one with the problems with authority?”

Today I’m very lucky to be interviewing Elizabeth Noble author of Shifting Chaos

Hi Elizabeth, thank you for agreeing to this interview. Tell us a little about yourself, your background, and your current book.

Tell us about your book.

Shifting Chaos is the fourth and final installment of The Sleepless City, (http://www.dreamspinnerpress.com/store/index.php?cPath=54_1067) an urban fantasy series written with Anne Barwell. The premise of the series as a whole is there are vampires and werewolves living alongside humans. There are good and bad individuals in each species. Our characters are among the good guys. Each man has a different skill set. They put those skills to use protecting their corner of the world—Flint, Ohio—from natural and supernatural bad guys who come in all shapes and sizes.

The first three books in the series focused on the establishment of a romantic couple within the series. Shades of Sepia is Simon and Ben’s story. In Electric Candle we see Forge and Blair meet and begin a life together. Family and Reflection features Lucas and Declan. Shifting Chaos is more about all six men and the family they’ve created. While there is continuation and more exploration of Forge and Blair’s relationship it’s not the focal point of the story.

Shifting Chaos is about the relationship between all six of these men, how they relate to their romantic partners and each other. Like all families this one has its ups and downs. I’ve also tried to highlight the friendships formed within the family, not just the romantic relationships. We get a look at each man’s interactions with someone other than his romantic partner. This book is a group effort between the characters. Oh, and there’s a great, big nasty supernatural bad thing to defeat!

How difficult was it to get into the main character’s head?

Since this book technically has several main characters getting into their heads wasn’t the issue. The biggest problem I faced was switching gears. The book is told from Declan’s and Forge’s perspective. Of the group they are the two oldest vampires and have known each other longer than any of the others. The relationships they have with each other as well as the other four characters are interwoven in a complicated manner. Keeping it all straight was sometimes a challenge!

Is this book a standalone or do you plan on visiting it again?

This book is the end of a four book series, The Sleepless City. However, the universe it’s written in is going to continue in at least two spin-off series (there has been talk of more). Anne is planning a series called Opus (https://annebarwell.wordpress.com/series/opus/) which will continue the urban fantasy storyline in Flint with Simon and Ben while also introducing other characters and couples. I believe she plans to begin writing the first book next year. I understand there will be a variety of supernatural beings introduced throughout the series.

I have a different sort of spin-off series, Akhkharu Nasaru The Vampire Guard. (http://elizabeth-noble-thevampireguard.weebly.com/) The first book in that series, Code Name: Jack Rabbit, will be released by DSP Publications in July 2016. It features Forge, Blair, Declan and Lucas working with an independent and very secret intelligence organization. They face a biological weapon wielded by a radical werewolf terrorist organization, among other things. This series is a mix of high tech espionage and supernatural myths. The Vampire Guard is the place where legend and myth meet science and technology!

Why did you choose to write M/M stories?

I write M/M stories mainly because I like them. Men have a different, and to me very interesting, way of reacting to the world around them. I enjoy exploring those interactions.

Where do you find your inspiration?

Everywhere! I read a lot of tech and science oriented non-fiction so a lot of ideas come from there. Others simply hit me over the head and I have no clue what sparked them.

Elizabeth Noble started telling stories before she actually knew how to write, and her family was very happy when she learned to put words on a page. Those words turned into fan fiction that turned into a genuine love of M/M romance fiction. Being able to share her works with Dreamspinner is really a dream come true. She has a real love for a good mystery complete with murder and twisty plots as well as all things sci-fi, futuristic, and supernatural and a bit of an unnatural interest in a super-volcano in Wyoming.

Elizabeth has three grown children and is now happily owned by an adorable mixed breed canine princess named Rosie, and two cats, Murphy and Yeti. She lives in her native northeast Ohio, the perfect place for gardening, winter and summer sports (go Tribe!). When she's not writing she's working as a veterinary nurse, so don't be surprised to see her men with a pet or three who are a very big part of their lives.

Two of Elizabeth's books have received Honorable Mentions in the Rainbow Awards.
