Book Promo: Excerpt & Giveaway! Fortune's Horizon by Andrea K. Stein

She risks everything to deliver gold to the Confederacy.

Lillie Coulbourne marks time in Paris while the Civil War rages back home. While translating dispatches from the Confederacy for the French Finance Ministry, she accepts a spy mission through the Union blockade. When the captain of the only blockade runner headed back to a Southern port won’t deal with women, or spies, she sneaks aboard as his cabin boy.

He refuses to risk his ship, or his heart.

Blockade runner Captain Jack Roberts has never been caught and he’s not about to let a spoiled American heiress ruin his perfect record. After he discovers her deception, he fails miserably at keeping her at arm’s length and vows to send her packing on the first mail ship back to England.

When she surprises him with her skill as a seaman and navigator, he grudgingly allows her to finish the run. But ultimately, he has to choose what is closer to his heart – Lillie or his ship.

“She is a pretty little piece. I had no idea the great Captain Jack Roberts would stoop to smuggle a woman aboard ship disguised as a man. Where is your sense of joie de vivre? Weren’t you even going to share her with your fellow officers? A pity — what a waste. She will be a prime jewel in my collection of Water Street girls.”

“Where is she?” Jack’s control broke. He interrupted Hollis’s taunting speech by pressing a pistol to his neck. “Enough. Bring the girl to me.” He pushed the pistol harder into the Hollis’s jugular vein. “If one hair on her head is harmed, you will regret the day you were born.”

“She should be outside about now trying to escape from the courtyard,” Hollis said, with another hard laugh. The object of Jack’s ire tried to inch his body out of harm’s way and gestured toward a window. “She certainly is a feisty little thing. However, it does appear as though I’ve had more luck than you in hanging on to her.”

Jack loosened the tension on the firing pin just long enough to confirm she was safe. Lillie seemed oblivious to the drama inside the drawing room. She inched her way around the perimeter of the walled courtyard, searching for a way out.

He held his breath and stared while she gathered the sheet up to her knees, exposing a length of curved, bare leg. She ran one of her hands over the courtyard walls and searched for chinks in the surface, no doubt looking for a way to escape.

Without warning, he drew back the pistol and cracked it alongside Hollis’s head. His enemy fell to the floor before the pirate’s men could react. Jack handed the pistol to Edward and burst through the entry into the courtyard.

When Jack came up behind her and placed his hand on her shoulder, Lillie whirled and went for his groin with her knee.

Thank God for long arms to hold the spitfire at length. She continued to fight and flail away at him for a bit and then finally quieted. He gathered her into his arms and adjusted the sheet to cover her. How often had he taken this unmanageable woman into his arms? He couldn’t recall a time when he didn’t know what she felt like with her head against his shoulder, the weight of her warm body resting in his arms.

“Jack?” Lillie asked, as she nestled against his chest.

“Yes?”

“We can’t go without my clothes. Make him return my clothes.”

Daddy was a trucker, Momma was an artist, and I'm a scribbler. The stories just spilled out—the pony escaped, the window magically shattered. Not my fault.
Twenty years as a journalist couldn't stifle the yarns. Yacht delivery up and down the Caribbean only increased the flow. Now those tales celebrate romance on the high seas.

Book Blitz! Meet Me in the Garden by Rosa Sophia

Memories of another life, and the garden where it all began, keep Amalie Jarvis awake at night.

A columnist for a popular magazine, she attends a function in Palm Beach at the famous Breakers Hotel, only to cross paths with graphic designer Ian Gardner—who appears to hold the key to her visions. The more time they spend together, the more Amalie realizes how much she wants to be with him. And how much she fears admitting that she loves him.

Ian can’t remember the past, but he is drawn to Amalie with an intense passion he’s never felt before.

Many moons ago, they met in a garden. Different names, different faces—but their souls were still the same. Unable to resist her, Ian falls deeply in love. He remains by her side as she battles severe facial pain, not knowing what it is or if it could kill her. Frightened for her, he swears his adoration without ever speaking the words.

But their devotion has dangers, and they’re about to be faced by hazards neither of them could have foreseen…

There was something about the condo downstairs that captivated Amalie’s imagination. As the days passed, Ian’s words echoed in her mind. She knew he was right. She had to talk to Roseanne.

She was the only person in the building who, on cooler days, would turn her air conditioning down and open the small window by her front door. Scents of freshly made apple pie and traditional kosher dishes would waft out the window, making Amalie’s stomach grumble as she passed the older woman’s condo on the way to her own.

She wasn’t the only one drawn in by Roseanne’s oddly comforting personality. Amalie remarked to Ian one day about the tree frogs that continually took up residence outside Roseanne’s door. They sat on her welcome mat, barely moving. Sometimes they looked like tiny figurines, until Amalie stepped close enough and saw the gentle pulsing at their throats.

Butterflies flocked to Roseanne’s windows, especially the zebra longwing, Florida’s state butterfly. They fluttered about as if peeking inside, wondering when she would emerge. Amalie watched them as she stood in front of the door, poised to knock. Before she could rap her knuckles against the wood, the door opened, and Amalie gulped in surprise.

Roseanne was clad in another of her multi-colored kaftans, her red hair pulled into a casual up-do. She smiled warmly and stepped aside, bracelets jingling on her wrists.

“Come on inside, dear.”

“How’d you know I was here?” Amalie said in a small voice, her heart pounding in her throat.

“I saw ya through the window.” Roseanne cocked her head, one bushy red eyebrow rising above her pale blue spectacles. “Are ya feeling all right?”

“Uh, yeah, I…” Amalie laughed nervously. “I don’t know, it’s stupid, I sort of felt like you knew I was coming.”

“Oh, don’t be silly!” Roseanne waved a hand dismissively as she shut the door behind them. “I’d hafta be psychic, wouldn’t I?” She let out a musical peal of laughter and took off her glasses. “Don’t need these anymore. I was reading one of those dirty novels, ya know. Just got to the part where he was ‘bout to rip her shirt off, then ah looked up and saw ya out the window.”

“Maybe you won’t be able to help me,” Amalie mumbled distractedly.

“I’m sorry, what’d ya say, dear?” Roseanne stepped into the kitchen. “Would ya like a slice ah cherry pie? I just baked it yesterday.”

“Uh, sure. I mean, Ian keeps telling me you might be able to help me with something, and I don’t know who else to talk to. I…I’m afraid you might think I’m crazy if I tell you. And we don’t really know each other that well.”

“Honey, the things I’ve seen, most people wouldn’t dare believe,” Roseanne said, the tone of her voice becoming stronger, more indicative of her Jersey Jew roots. Amalie watched her scoop a generous helping of pie onto a gold-rimmed plate. She handed the plate to Amalie and served herself a slice. “Let’s sit down at the table.” Roseanne indicated the small dining area near the front door.

The two women settled across from each other, and Amalie dug into the pie. It was delicious. As she savored her first bite, she nearly forgot why she’d come to see Roseanne in the first place.

“Take a walk with me,” Shooter said guiding her away from the noisy clusters of people nearby and out onto the trail. With the rich green of the forest broken up by wildflowers it had the potential for romance, if only the air between them wasn’t strained by stress so thick it rivaled taffy. “We choose to live this way and expect to be able to do so freely. That’s what Moose meant back there. I know it’s a lot to take in, and I‘d be stupid to not consider that this may not be for you. All I ask is you keep an open mind and keep your judgments to yourself.”
“Who said I was judging?”
“Aren’t you?”
“I’m trying to wrap my head around it everything. It’s like I walked into Oz or something. The people I know don’t live like this.” Confusion shone bright in her eyes.
“You want me to take you home?”
“No, I want you to explain why I’m here in the first place. I’m not your kind of girl.”
“Maybe that’s why? You’re the kind of girl I used to go for once upon a time. I thought I was over with that, but then you come along and fill my mind with what ifs. I’m not a man who believes in regret, so I took a shot and went for it. I’m not going to treat you like one of the biker bunnies, if that’s what you’re worried about. I do know how to treat a woman.”
“I know. That’s the problem.” She huffed. “You’re like two men in one body. The biker whose large, intimidating, and most definitely dangerous, but there’s also the man who holds open my door, puts his hand on the small of my back when we walk and for some God awful reason, makes me feel safe. It’s been a long time since I felt that way with a man.”
“You can have both parts of me, but you can’t have one without the other.”
“I know.” She glanced down. “ But I’m not sure I’m equipped for this lifestyle.”
“That’s for you to decide.” He placed a finger under her chin and forced her to meet his gaze. “I’m not going to be strung along so I suggest you figure it out fast. I’m going to ask you again. Should I take you home?”
Two heart beats passed.
“No, I don’t want you to take me home. I want to stay.”
He grinned. “Then relax, and enjoy yourself. I want to show you what life is like when you’re with me.”
“I get the feeling it’s going to be one hell of a ride with you, biker.” She tilted her head back and flashes an almost shy smile.
“I think you can learn to love the walk on the wild side librarian.” She leaned forward and he bent down capturing her full lips. He thrust his tongue inside her mouth and moaned at the taste of her. She was lightness, sweetness, and sunshine, a ray of purity in his dark world. His soul rejoiced. His jeans grew tight. He deepened the kiss, seeking more of the soul nourishing vibrations she offered freely. He slid his hand down her back and cupped her thick ass. She gasped. He swallowed the sound greedy for more of the woman who made him feel. His soul ignited and he knew in his gut he wouldn’t be able to let her walk away. He wanted to explore the connection that existed between him. The intensity of her lure was so strong he’d broken his rule about getting close and hadn’t’ looked back.
She pressed her hips against his, gripping the edges of his cut. They moved their heads this way and that, exploring. His dick turned to granite. She rocked her hips and he pulled away, sucking in air.

“Unless you want me to lay you down here and now I think we’d better stop.”
