Release Day Blitz: Excerpt & Giveaway! Kyle's Return, Gloves Off #5 by L.P. Dover

I promised myself I’d stay away from dangerous men, but I couldn’t live up to that when Kyle Andrews came back to town. He’s a manipulator, a guy who’ll do whatever it takes to get what he wants, sabotaging anyone who gets in the way. After a fatal fight left him wounded, his UFC career came to a close. He has nothing, but he’s determined to get it all back.

My name is Megan. I’ve known violence, pain, and what it feels like to be scared to live another day. All of that changed the moment I refused to be a victim. Now that my psychotic ex, Alex, can’t find me, I’ve been given a second chance. I owe my life to my friends. The same goes for Kyle. Without him, I wouldn’t be able to feel.

Everyone hates him. But for the life of me I don’t. There’s something about him I can’t ignore. Being with Kyle makes me want it all. However, in loving a hated man, I didn’t know it’d bring the life I fled from back to haunt me. Everywhere I go danger lurks and bad things happen. Kyle believes it’s because of him, but I’m starting to think otherwise. I think Alex has found me, and if so, this time he’s not going to let me go.

Letting my hands go, he reached around my waist and pulled me into his lap. “Kiss me. And not because I asked you to, but because you want to.”

“What if I don’t?”

“Then I would say you’re a liar. Your mind may say no, but your body tells me otherwise. I’d rather you listen to your body.”

I got up and straddled his lap, using the back of the couch, I boxed him in with my arms, leaning in until I could feel his hot breath on my lips. I felt his body flex in anticipation and the movement made my insides twinge. He wanted me and I held the upper hand. It was a rush of adrenaline. He leaned in, trying to make the connection, but I sat back and smirked, maintaining my space. I thought he’d laugh at my power move, but his eyes turned dark with need.

Leaning in again, I pressed my lips to his, softly at first, but then I bit his lip and sucked on it, rocking my hips into his arousal. His grip lowered and tightened on my ass as he deepened the kiss, groaning into my mouth. I wanted to rip his clothes off right there and knew this was moving too fast. He hadn’t proven enough yet, I’d be stupid to give in now. Breathing hard, I broke away and sat up. “The answer, by the way, is yes.”

“What’s the question?” His half-lidded gaze caught mine as he pushed up into me a few times, his body less willing to stop than his mind.

“The one you incessantly asked me every day this week, if I missed you. And the answer is yes, I have. Just don’t make me regret it.”

The door opened behind us. “For Christ sake!” Nic whined as she barged into the living room and caught us grinding on the couch. “Have you never heard of a bedroom? My eyes may be permanently damaged now. Do they have Lasik for this type of shit?”

After she dramatically made her way to her bedroom with one hand over her eyes and the other out in front of her, the moment between us had cooled. At that point, we decided it was best for him to head home before things went any further.

It was a good thing Nic had such bad timing, otherwise who knows what we would’ve ended up doing.

Book Promo: Excerpt & Giveaway! Unpredictable by Shantel Tessier

My niche in life is being an asshole. It suits me. I’m that guy who jokes about love and how settling down is overrated. Why would a guy ever fall for one woman when you can have as many as you want? Makes no sense to me.

But if being a cop has taught me anything, it’s that life is unpredictable. And that is exactly what Katherine is. The woman makes me question my sanity on a daily basis. Sometimes she makes me want to keep her to myself; other times, she makes me want to jump off a cliff just to get away from her.

Yet I still find myself turning into that little pussy I said I’d never be. Showing up on her front door holding flowers, only to have her throw them at me. Calling just to say hello, only for her to press ignore. Yeah, I’ve become a pussy all right. A whipped one at that. At first she was a challenge, but now I don’t like the fact that she is playing hard to get. But when someone comes after me, threatens my job, my life. It’s her that stands by my side. It’s her who has to pay for my sins. And it’s her who I’m threatened to lose. One thing that you need to know about me is that I'll fight for what I believe in. And I believe in her more than myself.

What’s that saying? Boy meets girl and the rest is history…Well, those who fuck with what is mine, will become history.

I sit at the wedding party table and watch the lovely couple smile at one another as they eat their cake. It’s sickening.

I can’t get my mind off the beautiful yet bitchy woman sitting next to me. She is having a much easier time ignoring me. But she did admit earlier that she was a good faker. I try to get up the courage to speak to her by taking another drink of my wine. I don’t need the liquid courage to actual speak to her; I need it to keep me calm from being a dick, which is what I do so well. I really don’t want her to kick me in the balls like she said she would.

“Would you like to talk about what happened that day?” I ask her politely.

She looks up from her cake and stares at me as if I have two heads. “Not to you.”

“Maybe I can help you,” I offer. “I am a police officer,” I remind her as if I wasn’t the one who threw her down in her front yard and handcuffed her. “Does that type of thing happen often with you and your boyfriend?” Maybe they like to fight. Maybe it’s like their foreplay. Believe me, I have seen some crazy shit.

She places her fork on the white tablecloth and leans over to whisper, “I told you once and I’ll tell you again. Drop it. What happened was none of your business.”

I reach out to softly rub her arm, and I feel it break out in goosebumps. “Does he hurt you?” I ask looking deep into her eyes. I’m being a total ass, and she knows it.

She jerks her arm away from me. “I had just got home that morning and was in a bad fucking mood,” she growls.

Just gotten home? It was like seven in the morning. “What in the hell were you doing just getting home?” I demand. “Especially the way you were dressed.” I smile as I let the dickness come out. “Been out hooking all night? And your man got tired of having to share you?” The memory of her telling me that she wanted to fuck her man’s best friend is still fresh in my mind. And what a thought that is.

I hear Samantha gasp as I watch Katherine’s eyes narrow on me. She reaches over to the table, and the next thing I know, she’s shoving her cake into my face. “Vas te faire encule salaud,” she hisses in my ear before I feel a cold liquid land in my lap. I can literally hear my cock sizzle as if she just put out a fire. Holy fuck, did she cuss at me in French? I think I just came.

Book Promo! Unpredictable, The Key West #1 by C.A. Harms

Have you ever wished for a moment that you could pretend to live the life of someone else? Escape the harsh reality that your own is anything but perfect?

Quinn had always been forced to put her own needs last. With an absent father and a mother who drowns herself daily in a bottle of Rum, there was no other option.

Jett was the distraction she needed, even if it was just for one night. A void filler, a chance for a freeing moment to allow herself to feel something other than emptiness.

He wasn’t what she expected…

Gentle

Her life didn’t have room for a man like Jett.

Unpredictable

But now it was too late, there was no turning back.

Desire

Nothing would ever be the same.

“Have I told you how perfect you are?” Quinn asked as she backed her way into my kitchen. I tossed my keys onto the counter and stalked toward her.

I shook my head, staring directly at her. “Well, you are,” she replied. “The way you were with my mom, I’m pretty sure she has a crush on you.”

I chuckled as I reached out for her and gripped her hips. I backed her up against the counter and pinned her with my body. “Have I told you how sexy you are?” I asked. She shook her head, mocking my earlier response. “Do you wanna go swimming?” I whispered as I kissed along her neck.

“I don’t have a suit,” she replied breathlessly.

Smiling against her neck, I nipped at her ear.

“With what I have in mind, you don’t need one,” I assured her. “It would just get in my way.”

“Really?” she taunted. “What exactly do you have strolling through that mind of yours?”

I could tell by the way her breathing had sped up and her body sagged against mine that she was turned on.

“I was thinking we could slip into the hot tub.” I flicked my tongue along her collarbone. A soft whimper fell from her lips, making my dick twitch in response.

“Where I could slowly and very diligently kiss and devour you.” Another moan as her held fell back, opening her neck to my assault. Sucking along the exposed skin, I kissed her jawline.

“Then when I have you at the point where you feel like you might burst from the need for me, I’ll bury myself inside your warm body. How’s that sound?” I asked.

“You had me at hot tub,” she panted.

Book Blitz! Bittersweet by Kimberly Loth

Every Sunday Savannah Ray gets an email from her dead dad. She doesn’t know how the emails work and she doesn’t mind either as she’s not ready to let go. Now that her mom is fed up of her rebellious behavior, she has to go to the one place she swore she’d never set foot in after he died—Haunted Valley, the amusement park. Once there and bullied by co-workers & customers, she is distracted by the charming Dallas and falls hard for him. But Savannah and Dallas both hold secrets that threaten their new relationship. Will Haunted Valley help her move on, or will it destroy her from the inside out?

We met at Cracker Barrel, which was just mom indulging me. My favorite meal in the whole world was biscuits and gravy from Cracker Barrel. If I could I’d subsist on chocolate alone, but I tried that right after Dad died and nearly ended up in the hospital.

“Grant just texted me that he already has a table. We’ll eat and then you two need to get on the road,” Mom said.

I recognized him immediately even though I’d only met him twice before, once at a family reunion and then again at the funeral. He had the same dark hair and eyes my dad had. Except skinnier. Grant gave my mom an awkward hug and shook Dave’s hand. They all smiled at each other. I sat down before he could touch me at all.

He tugged at his collar and smiled at me. It wasn’t a real smile, it was the kind of smile you gave when you felt like you were supposed to smile but didn’t really want to.

“So, Savannah, how was your school year?”

“Oh, fine. I got suspended, barely passed my classes since I wasn’t allowed to take the finals, and got dumped by my boyfriend.”

This was a test. If he were like my dad, he’d say something funny to lighten the mood. Dad hated anything serious.

Grant frowned and fidgeted with the menu. “I’m sorry to hear that. I hope this summer will be better for you.”

Fat chance of that. I rolled my eyes. He seemed so unsure of himself. Which was odd, because Dad was always the life of the party and completely in control of social situations. This aspect of him I didn’t inherit. Well, I did. I used to have it, but then he died and I threw it away.

They made small talk until the food arrived. Grant didn’t try addressing me again. Probably didn’t want me to tell him how horrible my life was. Just as the food arrived I hiccupped. Damn. My mother glared at me and Teddy giggled.

Hiccups are part of the family curse. Through my dad’s side, of course. We didn’t just hiccup. We made a loud and obnoxious noise that was more like a crow cawing. There was no way to get rid of them, I just had to wait them out. My mother always had new suggestions on how to stop them and they never worked. My hiccups were unbelievably embarrassing in class, but mostly they just reminded me that I’d inherited a curse that killed my great-grandfather during the Depression, my grandfather after Vietnam, and most recently my dad. There were other signs of the curse, but the first was always the hiccups. When I was little I thought the whole thing was about the hiccups, that my grandfathers died of hiccups. It wasn’t until a few years before my dad finally died from the wretched curse that he tried to convince me that hiccups had nothing to do with it. Sometimes, I still thought the hiccups were going to kill me.

“Damn curse,” I muttered.

Grant put his fork down. “Not you too.”

“Excuse me?” I asked.

“Your Dad was always going on about the curse. It doesn’t exist. He made it up as a party story to deflect attention off of his hiccups.”

“That doesn’t make it any less real. He’s dead, isn’t he?” I met his eyes. Those tiny almost-black eyes that were just like Dad’s.

“From a disease, not a curse.”

“Disease, curse, same thing.”

He put his fork down and crossed his arms. “It is not the same thing, if your Dad had recognized it as a disease then he would not be dead.”

I opened my mouth to argue, but my mother cleared her throat. Grant and I looked at her and then turned our attention back to food.

The rest of dinner was tense and silent. Except for Teddy jabbering on about Thomas the Train. To try to distract myself I listened to him intently. Half way through dinner, Grant looked at me but spoke to my mother.

“Savannah will have orientation on Tuesday. She’ll have to spend tomorrow getting up to dress code.”

My head jerked up and I wasn’t sure I heard him correctly.

“I’m sorry, what?” I asked.

“Your nails can’t be black. You can paint them a light pink, but no black or bright colors. You’ll have to remove the ring in your eyebrow.” I dropped my fork. This would not do at all.

“What about brown, can I paint them brown?” I wanted to continue, to explain that my nails were not black at all, but a dark brown of the richest chocolate. The kind that comes from Argentina. They couldn’t be black, because I threw the black nail polish away after Candie betrayed me and I shaved all the hair off my head. Before I could finish, he shook his head and took a bite of his omelet. I glared at my mom.

“You didn’t tell me they were going to make me change the way I look.”

She shrugged. “I didn’t know. But you’ll do it.”

“I can’t remove my eyebrow ring, it will close up.” My palms began to sweat. This was not the way I’d envisioned my summer. Pretending to be someone else. I was eighteen and they weren’t going to boss me around.

Grant scowled.

“If you want a job you will,” he held my gaze, which was hard because it was like staring straight into my father’s eyes.

“I don’t want a job anyway.” I shoved a biscuit in my mouth, emptying my plate, and waited for him to retort. He just looked at my mother and sighed. Perhaps he thought he was getting a docile little girl that would do whatever he wanted. The eyebrow ring would stay. I’d see to that.

In the end they decided I could put a clear stud in it.

Win-win. Not.

Release Day Launch: Excerpt & Giveaway! Intercepted, By His Game #3 by Emma Hart

Four people. Four goals. Four endings.

In the third and final book of the USA Today bestselling By His Gameseries, the rules of the game no one knew they’d have to play are blurring, and when the past becomes the opposing team, hearts aren’t the only thing at stake of being lost…

Finding naked pictures of her best friend on her boyfriend’s phone wasn’t in Everleigh White’s five year plan. Neither was moving back to Los Angeles, the city of dreams that never managed to make hers come true. There’s only so many years you can be in love with your best friend before you realize he’s never going to love you back, after all. If only her ex would stop showing up at the gym where she works, she’d be much happier.

Being a father at nineteen wasn’t how Reid North, the Vipers’ wide receiver, imagined his life going, but when his ex-girlfriend tricked him into parenthood, he accepted it. Eventually. Now, with his ex on the verge of being released from prison, he’s holding onto full custody of his seven year old son, Leo. Football and Leo have left Reid no time for dating… Until Everleigh comes back.

His best friend his whole life, Everleigh never knew Reid loved her. She left before he could tell her. Now she’s back in front of him, and he’s not letting go. Even if all he gets is her friendship again. But in a city like L.A., dreams come true when you’re least expecting it.

So do nightmares.

With their exes beating down their doors with demands and explanations, their hesitant and building relationship is threatened at every corner. They’re at serious risk of being intercepted by the past, and that’s a ball Reid is determined to catch.

Except desperation can lead to stupidity—and Reid soon realizes he can’t catch every ball, no matter how perfectly it’s thrown to him. This time a fumble could cost more than a few points.

It could cost him everything.

Intercepted is the third and final book in the By His Game series and can be read as a standalone, although it is advised to read Blindsidedand Sidelined before, in this order.

“Why’d you leave, Ev?” I ask her quietly, sitting forward. “Why didn’t you tell me? Why’d you ignore me?”

“I didn’t want to,” she whispers. “But I had to. It was easier for me.”

“Not for me!”

“I know!” Her eyes snap to mine and she twists her whole body to face me. “But I couldn’t say goodbye to you, Reid. It would have hurt me too much to do that. And it was pathetic and childish, but there. It was easier to run without thinking of you as long as it meant I didn’t hurt even more.”

Stupid, stupid girl.

I reach over and rest my hand against the side of her face. Tears are shining in her bright-blue eyes, making them gleam even more brightly. When one drips over her lower lid and onto her cheek, I catch it with my thumb and wipe it away.

I move along the sofa, closing the distance between our bodies, and pull her face toward me. “Don’t cry, Ev,” I whisper just before I lean in and cover her mouth with mine.

She draws a breath in through her nose, but she doesn’t push me away. She wraps her hand around my wrist at the side of her face and moves in toward the kiss.

Her lips are soft and sweet, and if the way I’m kissing her is half as tender as she feels, then dammit, I’m fucking screwed.

“I didn’t hate you for leaving,” I say in a low voice, threading my fingers into her long hair. “I didn’t hate you at all. I was fucking mad because you left before I could do that.”
